It is also normal for the brew to absorb the co2, especially if there's a drop in the room temperature. It's also a wise move to cha...

Re: First Time Winemaker - Oak Timings

From memory of brewing Beaverdale/Selection wine kits, add the oak chip sachets at the same time as the yeast.

It was Union surgical stores at Sunderland, which became Bob's home brew before it closed.

Re: King keg pressure vavle

Unfortunately its brand new I got caught out with this years ago, it's recommended to change them about every 6 months. Trouble is, you don't know how long the seals have been on the valve & they can "stretch" over time. I had similar issues before with a new barrel & valve & a new set of seals fix...

Re: King keg pressure vavle

You may need a new set of valve seals, sounds like they could be split, or stretched if they've been on for a while.

Is there a method for fitting? Very difficult but I managed it but unfortunately put a small rip in the bottom but it still seemed a good seal.
Soften them in warm water, much easier to slide them over the screw threads.

Re: DIY boiler - safety?

I've got to be honest here, I wouldn't consider using a fermenting bin for a boiler, I don't consider them up to the job.

Re: Rotokeg/BeerSphere Spares

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I'd be very surprised if there's any of those oval shaped rubber seals on the market now. A friend of mine had those barrels himself about 10 years ago & couldn't find any replacements.

Re: Wilkinson’s 4inch pressure barrel

If it's a new barrel, the valve seals may have been on for a while, and stretched. I got caught out with that with a new King Keg many years ago, a full new set of valve seals cured it.
