Re: Brausol finings

Thanks guys, I guess some experimentation is in order. I’ll take a pint out and split it just to see what happens.
Will try 4g in the fermenter and chill as well.

Cheers

Brausol finings

Good morning all, Can anyone offer some advice on dosage and application of Brausol Special finings please? Results on dosage seems to vary between 4ml to 7ml for a 23l batch. I'm looking to add it to my fermenter post-fermentation and then bottle straight from there as usual. Can I just add it to t...

Re: Nicks Epic Oatmeal Stout

So once it's reached FG, you leave in the fermenter for 10-14 days?
Would this still be at 18c?

Cheers

Re: Lyle's black treacle

I used 300g in a Chocolate Treacle Stout. Came out well, not too treaceley(?) but you could taste it. I took some of the boiling wort mixed in the treacle and added 20 mins before end of boil. :D

Wanted something a bit beefier to stir the mash, came across this. Delivered free in two days, very pleased. Thought it was worth sharing!

Re: Newbie : maximum mash time?

I have also had unusually low final gravities with overnight mashing. I wonder if there would be any benefit to starting with a higher mash temp when doing this. I'm thinking of the body of the beer being improved by the higher starting temp but still being able to reach the required final gravity a...

Re: Refractometer

Hi, bought this on e-bay this week. Ordered Monday and arrived Wednesday. Seems to be exactly the same as my local brewery uses.Using it today and works fine.

Re: best time to dry hop

I use fresh yeast from my local brewery, all my ferments turn out that way. I guess the answer would be to introduce the hops in secondary. I don't normally do that though. :?

Re: best time to dry hop

Just a thought - after 7 days in primary there is still quite a thick head on my beer. How would I add the hops in this case?

Re: Hopping question

Thanks for getting back Mauri. I've gone back and compared a few similar recipes and yes, this might be a little bitter but I've gone for it as recipe. We'll see what happens. Hopefully it will balance out given time.
Thanks again
