Thanks for all the replies, guys.
I agree. I think the sparge may be the problem.
Going to see if i can sort it out on my next batch.
I've just got a new load of standard crush malt from Get'erbrewed and I'll let you know how I get on.

You could try these :- https://www.cef.co.uk/catalogue/products/692890-expert-ratchet-crimping-tool Not a bad price for Ratchet Crimpers You can order online for next day delivery, or check to see if any of your local branches have them (And yes, I do work for 'em.) Cheers PS. You'll need the yellow...

Nothing, as such.
Just going by the recipes.

Grain Crush for All-in-One
Hi,
I've upgraded from simple stove-top BIAB to a Klarstein Maischfest and I'm having trouble hitting my OG targets.
Should I be using a standard malt crush as per, say, direct from Get'erBrewed, or should I use a fine crush, as I did with the BIAB?
All suggestions gratefully received.

Re: Klarstein Maishfest question
Thanks for the reply, Normski. I did actually dismantle it in the end, and yes, it is a standard half-inch ball valve. However, it comes with a crappy silicone "O" ring and leaks like buggery when you re-tighten it all back up again. You'll need to make sure that it's not leaking between the inner a...

Klarstein Maishfest question
Hi All, I know a few of you on here have this all-in-one. I want to know if it's OK to dismantle the tap for cleaning. It looks like a standard half-inch tap, but it's got this black plastic collar-type job on the front. I don't want to unscrew it and then find it won't go back on. Anyone done this ...

Hi All,
A quick heads-up for all the TC brewers out there.
LIDL will be doing their 1.5L cartons of Vitafit Apple Juice for 49p each next Saturday and Sunday (8th + 9th)
That's 33p per litre!
Fill yer boots !
Regards.

Re-using yeast
Hi, I'm just bottling a batch of London Pride clone in which I used yeast harvested from a couple of bottles of Bengal Lancer. How do I go about saving the trub at the bottom of the bucket and re-using it? Is it as simple as pouring it off into a sanitised PET bottle and chucking it in the freezer? ...

Re: First Maxi-BIAB in a 19L pot - London Pride clone
I went out to dinner this weekend and had a pint of Draught Pride (and very nice it was too).
I have to say that I couldn't detect a great deal of difference between that and this clone.
Not bad for a first AG!

Re: *New* Mangrove Jacks Craft Series Cider Giveaway
Hi Mark,
I'd like to give one a go. Prefer Apple or Blueberry, but any would be good.
Would like to compare with my TC.
Cheers

Re: What Spoon/Paddle for cordless drill please?
Whatever you use or whatever you do, DO NOT do what I did yesterday. Decided to whisk up my second Maxi - BIAB batch, prior to pitching, using my BRAND NEW cordless drill I got from Lidl a few weeks ago. Forgot to check before I started. After about a minute I found out the battery wasn't clipped on...

Re: Getting started with BIAB recipes
Hi agermich, You could do worse than trying the recipe that I did on my first BIAB. http://www.jimsbeerkit.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=75140 Make sure to look at the other 3 threads that i mentioned in my OP You can do a full 23L batch in your 20L pot and it will taste a hell of a lot better th...

Re: First Maxi-BIAB in a 19L pot - London Pride clone
So, here it is. Not quite the first pint of my London Pride clone. SV102014.JPG SV102013.JPG It's not crystal clear, but it's good enough for me. I had a couple of pints last weekend but it was under-carbonated but this weekend it was just right. Last week's pints reminded me of the first pints of c...
