Re: Buffalo 40L manual fill alternative element

Can’t advise on the exact question, but I stuck a kettle element on the side for shortening heating durations, also as a backup. Last brew day the buffalos normal element popped it thermal fuse so that second element saved the day and was good enough to heat mash and boil by itself. I think I’ve got...

Re: Malta

Just been out there for a few days, and tried Cisk lager and the Hop Leaf, whilst both were ok, it's left me wanting to find a decent way to brew over there, as Sicily is only 90km away, I was wondering if we have any Italian brewers on here that could recommend an Italian supplier of grain/hops?

Re: Malta

Thanks all, I'm hearing good things about the local brews, but am likely to be out there for at least a few years, so pondering if I can take my BIAB set-up with me. I haven't heard a bad thing about the place yet actually beginning to get suspicious... Cazamodo - would be great if you can find out,...

Malta

Hey guys, I've recently had a job offer to go and work in sunny Malta.

Just wondering if there's any members out there that can fill me in on all grain suppliers, I'd hate to be only supping the local lager for years on end!

Re: Some advice about porter

Sadly not, I think the Lancer and the 1845 have live yeast, although the 1845 is aged longer and higher ABV so if you can find both the Lancer is best to grab the yeast from, but the 1845 is much tastier IMHO...

Re: parti-gyle techniques

Read this, really nice article on it http://morebeer.com/brewingtechniques/library/backissues/issue2.2/mosher.html I have had success making a weizenbock using first runnings, then adding a bit more grain to make a dunkleweizen with the 'spent' grain. Handy to have some dme in case the calcs don't w...

Re: Some advice about porter

I've had great success in harvesting the fullers strain from bottles of Bengal lancer, it's and amazing yeast. Same strain as wlp002 if you prefer to buy it. I did the London porter with saf04 and although it turned out nice i always felt it would be much improved by staying true and using the fulle...
