Absolutely agree with IanF78, keg it at 1010 as it won't get any lower. Could you have misread the hydrometer as 1014 when it was in fact ready 1040 maybe?? Just a thought, but either way get it into the keg.

My last one got down to 1012 and I kegged it - it was fantastic. I don't think this kit gets much below that to be honest and I think you did the right thing. Now you just have to try not to drink it before it clears... It's a lovely pint!!

My understanding is that the only time there is a danger of oxidisation is if you DON'T open the lid and so draw oxygen through the CO2 covering the beer. If you open the top then the air fills the top of the barrel, but the CO2 is heavier and so stays as a protective covering thus preventing oxidis...

I just finished a keg of Wherry in one of the basic plastic pressure barrels. I didn't need to use any CO2 for the whole barrel, but I rarely had more than 3 pints out of it at a time. This is my first post, been reading for a while though and brewing for longer. I don't think this would work - the idea of keeping it in the warm for a week is to produce CO2, which you will then lose completely as it will escape from the secondary FV.
