Cheers Richard.... so from what you're saying then it's equivalent to 30 IBUs of your selected hop added at the specified time regardless of weight?? Thanks for the response

Hi guys Been a while since active on the site but wanting to brew a recipe for my old man from his old drinking days.... He's 90 in August..... Question is the recipe asks for 30 bittering units of Goldings to be added at the start of the boil.... Ok I get the Goldings obviously but 30 bittering uni...

Forgive if this has been touched on before but here goes Just looking through my copy of Wheeler and Protz Brew Your Own Real Ale At Home and noticed the first hop additions into the boiler on a recipe are fairly high.... plugged the numbers into BeerSmith for the style of beer and the IBU's are way...

As a rough guide, add 1/4" to the BSP size which will give you an approximate size (eg 1/2" BSP is around 21mm or 0.82" or just over 13/16")

Recently did a Black Wheat beer and instead of including the black malt in the grist, I sprinkled the black malt over the foil just prior to sparging and sparged through the grain.... Masses of colour, some aroma and not a massive amount to flavour from the malt.... Maybe it'd work on a Black IPA to...

Some people think that GKIPAA is great.... earlier in the year I was not 15 miles from the brewery and ordered a pint of Green King IPA...... It was sh**e..... No flavour and overly gassed (I know that each establishment has it's own stake/idea on the perfect beer).... However this was totally pants...

Seymour, thanks for the response.... Went with the original but will consider your suggestion next brew weekend.... Which should be very soon and I have a good amount of both Target and Northern Brewer left before I ditch them due to now being out of date
