Had a word with Tom at the Royal Standard. He is happy for us to bring some of our own efforts and is keen to try them.

Cambridge JBK members meet - Fri 20th Nov @8pm

The usual band of Cambridge area JBK members will be meeting up on Friday at the Royal Standard in Cambridge from 8pm until late. This is a pub that has not long reopened after being closed for many years. A good selection of bottled beers, cask ales and craft keg. Meeting is open to brewers and non...

Re: 80l mash tun false bottom size

I have an 80l Bergland thermopot to convert into a mash tun. I'd just like to compare my measurements with someone else if possible, before I order my false bottom from Mr Lard... I measure the diameter near the bottom as about 447mm. I was planning to run a split beer line around the edge of the f...

Re: Going for beer in Cambridge Friday 8th @8pm?

We now have a table reserved for 8pm, with the pub's blessing to bring a few of our own beers.

We have a number of new brewers joining us this evening too, so a good chance for any other new faces to come along as you won't be the only ones. :)

Re: Fancy a pint? Cambridge, Fri 15th August

No hangover for me either. Which is just as well, as the kids have been screaming at eachother since 6:30 this morning.

Yes, Nick can be a bad influence re Jaipur! :)

Some good beers brought along. Cheers guys!

Re: Problems I cannot find the answer to?

A process of elimination of possible causes might be worth considering. Start with changing the liquor source, since you already suspect it. Supermarket bottled water is relatively cheap and readily available soft-ish water supply. If that turns out to point the finger at your water supply, get it t...

Re: AG#5 - Marie Celeste - Ghost Ship Clone

guess I misread your post with the recipe OH ... thought you substituted the Motueka... oh well it smells the same with Amarillo any way... and the Motueka was more than twice the price :| I've tweaked that post to make it clearer. I made it with Amarillo and it still tasted great. Citra is the mai...

Fancy a pint? Cambridge, Fri 15th August

The usual crowd will be gathering in the Kingston Arms at around 8pm on Friday 15th August until late. Another chance to drink beer, elicit some carefully considered opinions on any of your brews you bring along, and talk beer 'n' stuff 'till closing. Maybe a chance to preview a commercial beer too!...

Re: AG#5 - Marie Celeste - Ghost Ship Clone

I enjoy Ghost ship clones similar to this, although I use "Motueka" rather than Amarillo. Yep, it should be Motueka in the middle, rather than Amarillo. There is a commercially available "Southwold" Yeast must try that. Word is that WLP025 is only a single strain, but may be one of the two strains ...
