Re: Mash and Boil at different times
Done this a couple of times and not had a problem yet. Obviously it costs a bit more as the wort will have cooled overnight so you have to raise the temperature more than if you boiled straight after sparging.

+1 for the Sarah Hughes Ruby mild
Lucky me I only live 2 miles from the Beacon in Sedgley where it's brewed. In fact I think I may wander in tomorrow and try a couple

You need a minimum of 5 posts before you can post images.
You've already done 4 so try another post and hey presto you'll be able to post your pictures.

Re: COMARK DT 400 Digital thermometer
I use mine to check the mash temp just at the start and end of the mash.

Once I've wrapped everything up i don't disturb it as all i'd be doing is losing heat whilst removing some of the insulation and opening the lid.
Cheers

One of these
http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/10067655/
makes a great test jar - at only £1.99 it's worth getting a couple just in case
(sorry I couldn't post a link properly but I still haven't got past the post limit yet :( )

Re: making your own wort cooler?
Mine's a twin coil chiller made from a 10m roll of 10mm soft copper tube, 4x 15mm to 10mm reducers, 2x 15mm equal tees and a couple of short lengths of 15mm tube I borrowed some jars to use as the formers [img]http://farm7.sta...
