Re: Single element
I echo the above. yes 1 x element will work but 2x provides a) a quicker initial boil, and b) a backup (elements can fail generally at the worst time..) power control isnt necessary, a boil is a boil, and you can exert indirect control over the boil with insulation around the pot wall and partial li...

Re: Refilling soda stream bottles.
this old web page that was hosted by a bunch of paintballers 'team onslaught' is still accessible with waybackmachine and details every way of connecting co2 bottles together for refilling.inc valve and thread specs too. if you can think of it these paintballer chaps have done it and documented it.....

Re: FV Extraction
if you ever want to serve above ambient temp ie beerfridge in garage mid winter.. then yes a heater would be necessary but its generally a less crucial aspect for a keg fridge than a fermentation fridge.. the low watt (40-60w) tube heaters generally used never get much more than warm to the touch.. ...

Re: New shiny!
Very nice, but i agree the valve is way ott. tho im a bit of a luddite preferring to rack off sediment with a dip tube and siphon. Not only does it contribute to a brighter pint, but the FV (without ant tap holes) is a quicker clean and sanitation.

Re: Burco wash boiler tap replacement
If at all similar (and the tap looks identical) to my ol single skin ally burco, you should find a round hole with a square notch to align the tap assembly when the tap is removed. I used a standard 15mm compression brass tank connector to seal up the hole ok, and i had drilled it through with a 15m...

Re: Keezer Fan Holder
sure beats my solution which for fan #1 which did last a good 3+years i simply epoxied it to the thin plastic shell of my fridge interior.. On its inevitable failure i took a pair of pliers to it and pulled out its motor, blades, and support leaving me with an empty shell onto which the replacement ...

Re: serving bright beer from a cornie

I had similar concerns and invested in a few of the caskwidge red floats which work a treat as long the the float isnt...

Re: Stc1000 problems
ebay and a few of the quality home brew uk suppliers homebrewbuilder angel maltmiller etc should be able to supply you with a new probe, but be careful as not all NTC probes are equal so make sure the one you buy is suitable for the stc1000..

Re: Carbonation Keg lid
It may well condition a beer with co2 a little quicker but i would question if said beers would be fully mature and ready to quaff without at least the usual week or so of conditioning in the keg.

Re: Cleaning a cornelius keg without moving it
fwiw my cleaning/sanitation routine involves liquids only in the keg no hands/implements involved. just warmwater + generic fragrance free laundry oxi for a good 15minute+ soak 2 x rinses and a sanitation treatment with starsan. i do however manipulate the keg standing it on its base, then top with ...

Re: Water to garage
If plumbing in a temporary isolated copper pipe system, imho it would be wise to build in the facility to drain it at its lowest point to reduce the risk of standing water forming toxic verdigris inside the pipework, earthing the copper with a grounded link will aid in this too..
