Re: Building a hop back

Might be worth putting having the hop back in the right place, traditionally its boiler -> hopback -> Chiller. you want the hot wort to hit the hops, not cold wort. Easyest way will to be buy a 40-50L mash tun with a perferated false bottom, gravity in from the boiler and then pump it out through th...

Re: Sourcing cheap LWD elements.

Yep, I have a flow switch but it looked a proper bug trap so I omitted it from the control. If I can find something a little cleaner I'll wire it into the pulsed output of the SSR or the contactor that supplies the SSR. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro I fitted an extra contactor to my control ...

Re: Brew Con London - A Home Brewing Conference and Expo

Crastney, Its going to be really interesting to see what Brewcon turns out to be, i have a feeling there will be a relatively small group (a few hundred) of dedicated homebrews there who will then be outnumbered by people interested in beer and home brewing as its very trendy to be at the moment. Al...

Re: Brew Con London - A Home Brewing Conference and Expo

Some interesting points of view here, one interesting comment was something (edit should say general view that has been voiced before) along the lines of why are the majority of the events held in the south - simply because there are more people willing to organize stuff, and why should the organize...

Re: Rusting in Cornelius keg

Chances are the keg was made in China from cheap low quality materials, you may find it just comes back again and again as mild steel was in the welding rods and now in the weld.

Re: Building a brew shed - part 2

From the blog "renovation complications in the house, lets just say the roof has been leaking for a while". And there you are working on the brew shed. Good man. 8) The roof has been leaking for years by the looks of it, and i am working on the shed under direct orders form the missus so that all m...

Building a brew shed - part 2

It’s been a busy few weeks working on the brew shed and it has progressed well even if a little slower than i had hoped for. So here is a link to the blog post, im sure there will be a part 3 to this as it’s still a fair way from being finished. https://retributionbrewing.co.uk/2016/08/15/building-a...

Re: Heating elements touching, is this ok?

They had to bend the element to get it into that shape, rotate both of them 90 deg then give them a gental flex sidewards (in oposite directions) so they dont touch.

Re: Building a brew shed

Cracking build!! With the floor paint I highly recommend getting a floor paint set that comes with acid. The acid will take that dusty top coat off the concrete so the paint will key lovely. Built up 6 coats of light grey in my shed and it's a great finish. As I painted the blocks white I also mask...
