Re: " Ditch's Stout " Master Class .....
Ditch's Top Tip, # 57! That f**king worked well! I was in the Chat Room today, moaning to Deadfall how I had three FV's to clean. And how ~ sick and f**king tired of trying to nail brush the cack out of the inner rims ~ I was going to try soaking them, overnight. I put them in a sink of plai...

Re: brewing in a shed, keeping the temp right??
I don't think I have the temperament for wrapping sh!t round my FV's, mate. They tend to get a bit messy themselves, see? I couldn't be doing with trying to clean off 'jackets' every week.
For now, I'll just carry on dumping the heaters in the FV's. Worked so far .....

Re: brewing in a shed, keeping the temp right??
That's bloody incredible, mate! As I say; I've tried the trug method and it doesn't do anything to the temperature inside the FV. Probably just that my veritable cave gets a lot cooler than a normal, modern house?

Re: brewing in a shed, keeping the temp right??
Anyway getting back on topic, I've always used the cupboard under my stairs to ferment with the FV sitting in a plastic box with water in the bottom and an aquarium heater to maintain consistent temp. Has always worked fine for me. I'd be interested in exchanging notes on this. Personally, I plonk ...

Jodi; I gave up bothering with gas years ago. I now, more often than not suck it from the bucket.
Guess it's all down to ye preferences.
I've certainly never been called a " Home Brew Hipster "

Yeah; Aquael is set at 24. Fluval's on 23. Interestingly, the Aqua does brain up a few hours ahead of the Fluval. As said though; I suspect the beer isn't actually attaining quite those temperatures. Bear in mind that I'm doing it on a concrete floor in an unheated room. On a par with a garage then.

Re: " Ditch's Stout " Master Class .....
Ozzy; I don't honestly know, mate :| I'll have a look at them, presently. Thing is; I'm seeing a disparity between them and the actual temperature readings a thermometer in the FV gives. And I know my thermometers are fine, because I have two of them. They read lower than what ever the heater dials ...

Re: Partial Mash, 1 can kits...is it the way forward?
I just found a 11L pot on the bay for 12quid delivered item number 160901418854 , this would be the ideal start for partial mashing and really is not that expensive. Cheap pots terrify me. I'd be carrying a sh!t load of boiling water around my Dogs. Handle drops off ....? And, in my considerable ex...

Re: Partial Mash, 1 can kits...is it the way forward?
Bit mortified to see ye saying ~ elsewhere ~ that we'd need a 10 Litre pot with a tap, though! F**k That!!! I'd be looking at €50 + And I can't even guarantee I could establish the temp's required.
This is what's holding me back
