Re: Another HERMS question
Another alternative would be to auto tune with a spent mash, that way you can be sure that it is as close to your actual mash environment as possible. I discovered significant differences between tuning it with water, and using it for real . . . . . possibly something I was doing, but auto tuning w...

Re: 5hit...to the power10
I think the secret is to pump near boiling wort through it to sterilise it before sending it to the fermenter. :D :D That's a good point Rab....I probably do just that without realising... as I usually send the first pumped bitter wort through the CFC to the drain as a means of final flush of any r...

It has now turned into a very nice brew and is almost gone  The Boddingtons...This was a real surprise,,,from what definitely tasted like...

Re: Hop and Grain supplies
Berry should've stuck to wine that's for sure. Don't add ANY grain to the boil. I can't think why anyone would want to add it to the copper...but just to put the record straight. To quote Wheeler:- "Crystal malt has had its starch converted to sugars during manufacture and does not need to be mashe...

Re: Hammering in beer lines with Cornie-Check Valve-Beer Engine
However, due to the wastage every time you use a BE (have to discard the first half pint or so, which is a lot when you only want 1 or 2 pints) I've now got it coupled to the SS tap, which is working brilliantly. Well...Have to be honest here Jim (and usually when I make this statement I get shot d...

Re: Quick Tesco Element question
Quick question please: I am about to go and buy a cheapo Tesco kettle for the element to put into my stainless HLT. I believe that (from my research on here) a washer will be needed to make up the thickness as the stainless will be thinner than the plastic kettle. Does anyone have a measurement for...
