Another Starsan Quetion.

No point. It goes slimy too after a few days , at which point it's going nowhere near my beer, even if it is under 2.2

Yes. It started about a year ago. I now use RO water instead.

Re: Scaling recipes

Here's what I do and it works well.

Input the recipe from the book using BeerSmith, just pick a standard 23 litre brew length profile.

Save it to make sure everything looks OK and then use the scale recipe option in beersmith. It will adjust everything for you.

Re: Chocolate flavour

I've successfully used chocolate extract. You get it in liquid form just like vanilla extract. Just thought i'd give an update. I made a stout with 100ml Little Pod chocolate extract in about 27L, and no finishing hops. It has a solid but not overpowering chocolate flavour. Spot on. Yes that's the ...

They only add 30% bread. I wasn't impressed personally.

Re: Hothead yeast

I'll be brewing this weekend. After reading all the comments above I'm planning to ferment at around 29. I'm really looking forward to using this yeast.

I'm also planning saving some slurry and making a no boil / raw brown ale the next brew.

Hothead yeast

Just ordered some hothead yeast from Brewuk. A new range they are offering. Seems very interesting. A temp range of 16-37 degrees C so no temp control required. Reviews seem good from our US friends. Gives an apricot fruitiness. Planning using on a DIPA next week. I'll update the results if anyone's...

Re: Pure hop aroma oils-opinions?

I've used the Citra and EKG and love them both. I find them much better than dry hopping.
