Re: 3/8" x 1/2" Hose Adapter

If you warm the end up in very hot water it'll probably go on just fine won't it? Or is it too "stiff" for that (ooer!) Heated the pipe in some near boiling water and it wont fit over the end of the barb; its the same size as the end of the barb. Failing that, if it fits inside the larger pipe I'd ...

3/8" x 1/2" Hose Adapter

Quick question; I have a Buffalo Boiler with a 1/2" hose barb and need to attach it to 3/8" hose that came with my Fly Sparge kit; what is the recommended way of achieving this? Quick disconnect fittings? Male-Male barb adapter?

Re: Gales HSB Recipe - Graham Wheeler

I would go with SO4 for your first brew too. As I mentioned the other night, you can get Gales strain from Brewlabs on a slant. But you want to get a few brews under your belt before looking at slants, as that adds even more processes and extra care with sanitation etc. as you can see ! And I final...

Re: Gales HSB Recipe - Graham Wheeler

Doesn't answer the question, but there are other recipes out there. Quite a few have done the BYO one. A quick search of "Gales" on the forum revealed recipes for Gales's beers by Otters here Go with SO4 for your first brew (don't expect it to be exactly like HSB!) or Wyeast 1332 (derived from a Ga...

Gales HSB Recipe - Graham Wheeler

I'm preparing for my first All Grain brew in the next week or so and plan to brew my favourite tipple HSB. I have the Third Edition of Graham Wheeler's "Brew Your Own British Real Ale" but I understand there was a change in the Gales HSB recipe from the 1st edition. - Does anyone know what the diffe...

Re: Grainfather brewday & review

Good video, though madness trying to lift that grain tub out at that height! As I am starting from scratch I nearly bought one of these but those niggles you list are the ones that stopped me splashing out £599 on a this, for now. I am hoping there will be improvements on the next model and will pro...

Re: Coopers Mexican Cerveza - OG and Whiffy Yeast?

Thanks for the reply @Monkeybrew. I don't have a Fermentation Fridge but do have a decent room with no windows and a stable temperature, I also have a beer belt that has been good at maintaining the temperature on the first brew.

Re: Coopers Mexican Cerveza - OG and Whiffy Yeast?

Try and get the temp down to 15 Celsius, 24 is much too high for a nice clean lager. It looks like the Coopers yeast is a blend of two varieties, one of which is likely to be a real lager yeast, so you might be able to ferment down to 10-12, which is ideal for home-brewed lager. 1043 OG is fine. St...

Re: Thermo pot 70ltc

I've been reading barneey's post ( there's over 5k) about mods, I didn't want a bottom drain, but I gleaned lots of good info on many ways to mod, Thanks barneey, Yep there's quite a few old posts of mine on JBK which are still relevant today  trouble is they get lost in the process of time &...

Coopers DIY Beer Kit = Gales HSB

First up a totally newbie wanting to learn. My favourite beer being Gales HSB even after it's move from it's ancestral home in Horndean, Hampshire. Also partial to a London Pride and Abbot Ale, so I have a taste for the sweeter, richer ales. And that's my Home Brew Goal, to create a sweet, smooth Al...
