He has done great work with these beasts. Currently a brewpi replacement and and ardbir replacement.

I'm using a modified version of Vito's code, works well.

Re: Anyone used the ESP8266

Yup, I've got a few of them. Hooked up a DS18B20 and used one as a beer fridge temperature monitor :) They're amazing bits of kit, a Wifi capable programmable device for under a fiver. I used the Arduino development environment with an ESP8266 plugin and wrote C code to program the thing. Pretty eas...

Homebrew shop in Farnham ? I'm local and didn't know there was one there. Sure you don't mean Farnborough where the-home-brew-shop have recently moved to ?

Re: BrewPi Help

You need a way to resolve the domain name to an IP address. I've no idea how the brewpi wiki suggest setting it up. It won't just magically work. This is what a DNS server does. They are probably setting up a MDNS server on the BrewPi ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multicast_DNS ) which should cut...

Dunno, but it's cheap and works :) That's good enough for me.

Re: Notty

Did you rehydrate before pitching or just sprinkled dry yeast into the wort ?

I've always had Notty start within 12 hrs. Saturday's brewday using it saw activity within 5hrs.

If I were going to the level of drilling holes then I'd go the whole hog and install a probe inside the tun rather than what you're describing.

Re: And another one pot brewing system!

One thing I hate about it is the placement of the controller. On the bottom! You have to crawl around the floor to set it? Or have it up on a table then you have to lift the malt tube up above you head to sparge. A mate of mine has relocated the control unit onto a shelf at eye level. Found the BM ...

Excellent work!

Like the video, good demonstration of why you should never put the malt pipe in before the BM unit has turned the pumps off !

Re: Dry yeast FAIL ?

Always worth having backup yeast sachets in the fridge :) I'd get another pack and add that asap personally. Wilko's sell "Girvin" yeast which is supposedly the Nottingham strain and Wilkos should be open today.

I guess someone might want to modify an existing SSR based setup to allow the power level control too. Fil's item would be more appropriate in that case.
