Re: BrewDog Recipes - Free

It does strike me though that there is a desperate need for a DIYDOG Wiki/forum where brewers can enter errata, supply the numbers they've actually found when they brewed one of the recipes and share their experiences. All the headliners will get a lot of focus (Punk, Dead pony, Jackhammer, Hardcor...

Re: BrewDog Recipes - Free

I was in the Brewdog bar in manchester the day after they launched "Jet Black Heart" - was really taken with it. So, yesterday, when the recipes were released I was thrilled to take a look at that one. Have entered it (and tweaked and polished) into both Brewmate and Beersmith - and can't get the nu...

Re: A hogshead, a firkin at a time

As is the tradition on these occaisions, when I emerge from the dusty cellar that holds the barrique full of this beer I'll pop in and tell the tale of its progress http://i.imgur.com/dY4MjL3.jpg Went out and filled another keg of this beer a few days ago, as it has had a little time under pressure ...

Aware that the moment has been and gone but... for future reference. No, too early.

You'll get maximum available enzyme production once the Acrospire is 75% the size of the grain.

Re: A hogshead, a firkin at a time

You didn't enter this into the Paris Beer Week competition by any chance ? Nope, I only found out on Saturday evening (when I was in Bourgogne for the 2014 BRASSAM meeting) that their even was a Paris Beer Week! My fault, must try harder. I gave first tastes of that keg to 50+ brewers though... and...

Re: A hogshead, a firkin at a time

Long time, no update. That's because.... I was letting time do what time does... tick away! So, two years in the barrel, the results are simply sublime. https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2922/13974846680_0df771f6f9_c.jpg Taking the first keg by adrianfoden I took that keg to the annual French amateur b...

Re: Blue Monkey - BG Sips

ok. new to me... but at a rare visit to a recent UK beer festival this last week and this beer leapt out of the glass. It was outstanding. Mentally I could taste a little of that aromatic/tannic/floral edge from a darjeeling.... but I suspect that was simply me mentally thinking it had some tea-rela...

Re: Towcester and Northants Brewclub

Hi. I'm only itinerantly visiting the UK but.. yes.. I'm here now and would be happy to meet up and talk brewing!

Neil I know is still actively involved in brewing and he's on here I'm sure - let's try and plan a rendezvous.

brief report. It had two weeks in the secondary with the dose above. I took a snap of the bottling sample I slurped - nice clear beer. I'll upload it in a few weeks but... first... my tasting notes. Full mouthfeel is evident, the grist was a success. the flavours... fruity. the pear is there, the sp...

Re: T-58 yeast question

I made an IPA for the summer with this yeast, 92% vienna/8% wheat. Lots of aurora and citra late hops. Huge pillowy tropical fruit flavours and a dominant bubblegum edge. One of the best beers I have ever made. Nicknamed 'hubba bubba' it was in high demand all summer... Guaranteed repeat brew next s...
