Re: No trademark infringement (Not 5am saint)

Brilliant.........all my brewing (well most) is thrown together recipes, usually stuff I know will work though! Don't let anyone tell you to reduce the cascade by 5g or move one of the hops to a different boil time

I'm looking forward to the results

Re: I'm Thinking of doing a kit!!!!!!!!!!

This has been bottled/barrelled for about 2 weeks now.I have, of course, been drinking it for about 10 days. It is now 90% clear and tastes good. It's better from the bottle than the barrel. I set 3 litre aside and heavily dry hopped it. I will try these in a couple of weeks. I would certainly do so...

Re: First beer, first kit, timing advice needed

Do it now. It will probably be fermented out in 4 to 8 days. If you really want to let it stand to clear a little then leave it for 10 to 20 days then bottle/barrel. That way it will be ready when you get home. If I was doing it, I would be drinking it before your holidays. I have started drinking a...

Re: I'm Thinking of doing a kit!!!!!!!!!!

Right then! I made the Fixby last night and it is busy fermenting away now. The aroma was similar to a lightly hopped AG. It's showing promise at the moment and, of course, it's dead simple to knock together................not sure it's worth four times the cost of an AG for the convenience though. ...

Re: sterilising the tap

The tap has stood the boiling water many times over. I wouldn't actually boil the tap though as it does soften slightly. I always allow it to cool after running the boiling water over it before operating it.

Re: sterilising the tap

I trickle boiling water over the tap just before I draw anything through which I am going to use. The tap is stripped and sanitised at the start of every brew. I identified a fermenter tap as the source of a repeat infection some years ago. It's the only part of my kit with "corners" for crap to lur...

Re: I'm Thinking of doing a kit!!!!!!!!!!

Finally I have got round to buying a kit. It was partly decided by what what in stock (Leyland Homebrew) It was a toss up between St Peters and Brupaks. There were quite a few new kits in stock which looked interesting but needed additional spray malt etc. To keep it as simple as possible, I went fo...

I think your question has pretty much been answered, but you may find the attached thread of interest for future experiments

Re: Have I ruined this thru stupidity?

Should I have reprimed when I bottled the next day, it would have only been fermenting for a day so I'm hoping it should still be alright in the bottle. Phil After a day it will have used some of the sugar and produced CO2 which will have vented away. It may not be the same level of carbonation you...

Re: Have I ruined this thru stupidity?

If you were troubled by your "error"all you needed to do was let the priming sugar ferment out for about 4 days then rack to a fresh bucket and start again. I usually bottle before fermentation is complete, or if I let it ferment out I often do what you have done as an "error". I just stir the sugar...
