Beer Engine to Corny Keg pipework

Hi.

I am looking setting up my beer engine to dispense from Cornys using an LPG regulator as a ''cask breather'. My beer engine has a 3/4 inch hose connector. Where and how do I reduce from that down to the 3/8 beer line that goes into the Corny 'out' post connector?

Thanks

Belle Saison yeast and Mandarin Bavaria hops

I've had some success previously with an orange and coriander saision. I am trying to redesign the recipe to get the same sort of flavours from the hops and yeast rather than orange and coriander additions. I'm aiming for light-medium flavours, not too strong. I'm thinking of using Mandarin Bavaria ...

Re: FV... does size matter?

I'm sure 'brulosophy' could conjure up some bullshit to 'answer' that. I get brief, contractile responses of a skeletal muscle every time someone mentions them. They know their bullshit, that's for sure. This, OP. A well constructed and comprehensive answer to your question, backed up by solid fact...

Re: FV... does size matter?

Brulosophy conducted an experiment on this exact thing. Blind tasting results showed that people could tell the difference between beers fermented with low headspace (fermenter full) and high headspace (fermenter half-full). The majority preferred the beer with low headspace. http://brulosophy.com/2...

Re: Portable Corny Options

BTW, once you have finished the beer, you have to push the tyre tube into the keg before you remove the bung for cleaning. Tie a piece of string around the valve before you do this or it can be a right PITA to get out again

Re: Portable Corny Options

Get one of those 5l mini-kegs, they cost around £15 in the supermarkets including the beer. My LHBS sells replacement bungs for them for 90p each. https://cdn.midwestsupplies.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/m/i/mini-keg-bung_1.jpg Drill a 5mm hole in the plas...

Wow - great info. Thanks! I will have to study it in more detail on my computer, it's a bit difficult to see on the phone.

Re: How much cooling 'power' does a cornelius beer cooler have?

Don't know if you've seen my post dealing with a similar situation? http://www.jimsbeerkit.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=80114 Hasn't run in anger yet (fully loaded) but I'm not expecting difficulties. I'm only planning on running the cooler for 15 minutes, 6 times a day, depending on ambient te...

You can't radiate cold
I *knew* someone would say this  . Thanks for the good advise though... kind of what I was expecting. Back to the drawing board, I guess.

Re: How much cooling 'power' does a cornelius beer cooler have?

However if you have room for a 4 keg encolsure cant you fit a 2nd use/freecycle fridge in ?? then a cheaper smaller shelf chiller could be sourced and as long as you gave it half an hour or left it on a segment timer or something more sophisticated, it could add that extra chill for your lagers etc...

How much cooling 'power' does a cornelius beer cooler have?

I am looking at setting up a kreezer/kegerator type setup with 4 taps. The problem I have is that I want to be able to dispense at different temperatures for lagers and ales. My initial thinking was that I would set up a single kreezer at ale dispensing temperature and then get myself a 2-product be...

Re: Polyclar - can't get it to dissolve

I see, thanks. I read somewhere that it should be used in conjunction with regular finings, like gelatine. I don't remember the details, but it was something to do with the polyclar increasing the size of the chill haze particles by providing an electrostatic nucleation points to draw them together;...

Polyclar - can't get it to dissolve

Hi I'm giving polyclar a try for the first time on a bohemian pilsner. The instructions say to add 5g to 200ml of freshly boiled water and stir until completely dissolved (minimum 15 minutes). I have done as instructed and have been stirring it using an electric whisk for the last half hour but it d...

Do microwaves kill nasties?

I have some small lab jars that I use for storing my yeast that I usually sterilise them in a pressure cooker before use. I was wondering whether I could just put a little water in the bottom of each and zap in the microwave for a minute instead. Will the critters be killed by the microwaves or are ...
