Re: Brewing from the garden tap

I plan on using one of these - our Combi is mains fed so going to pump hot tapwater in to the HLT then throw in a campden tablet.

Re: Few slow cook recipes from curry frenzy

Think you have the wrong info about Slow Cookers Nursey, they use about the same energy as a low wattage lightbulb. The Centre for Sustainable Energy estimates the average electricity usage of an electric oven between 2-2.2kWh, while a microwave uses between 0.6-1.5kWh. A slow cooker uses approximat...

Re: Wine Bottles

My local pub saved me about 100 or so Magners bottles for beer and about 30 wine bottles. Worth asking.

Re: Check my ball valve config please

Buffalo is dedicated HLT, and Plastic 60ltr is for boiling wort. I have gone 3 vessel system.

Now I see. I need a couple of mil clearance of the nut, that being the biggest part. I( wish this stuff came natural to me like everyone else!

Re: Upgrade from plastic boiler - suggestions

I got a new style 40 ltr Buffalo boiler, which I am led to believe are a little taller and slimmer than previous models. Depending on your fv it might stack insided one. Beware though, a bit more work is needed than of old to add a different tap. I'm just leaving the standard one on for now.

Mint! Thats another piece of the jigsaw in place. Sort a tap and filter for my Mashtun, get a few minor bits and bobs and I'll be good to go. :)

Check my ball valve config please

I have settled on the following to add a ball valve to my plastic boiler and was wondering if it will work. ( Bear with me, I have no clue about any of this stuff so had to learn it on the fly) 20 mm hole in bucket. Screw 1/2 inch stainles steel valve on to a 1/2 inch paralell nipple 2 inches long, ...

Re: Adding a ballvalve to a plastic boiler - advice please.

Doh Just seen his tap is 3/8". So I'd just need all 1/2" inch gear and ad in a flanged washer on the inside and outside with a male to female coupler for the hop strainer?

Adding a ballvalve to a plastic boiler - advice please.

I now have my 60 ltr boiler fitted with two elements and need to add a ball valve. I was looking at this set up as probably the easyest option for me - I want it to be all stainless steel and easy to fit. I am puzzled though ast to the size of the nipple. If the tap is 1/2" shouldnt the nipple be 1/...
