Re: Adnams Old

I tried to brew the Old earlier in the year using yeast from a Mini keg of broadside without much success. I'm going to make myself feel better by saying I must have had the old version of the recipe as I missed invert sugar (rather than the more likely errors in my process). slightly off topic but ...

Cheap pigtail element shroud

Just thought I'd share a moment of inspiration; As I brew in a bag I was in dire need of an element shroud to stop by bag burning. Whilst being dragged round a popular Swedish furniture shop I noticed this large kitchen utensil holder in stainless steel. A few stainless steel bolts from eBay and I h...

Re: Shiny Electric Keggle (many pics)

I went with a heatrae sadia 3kw element. Thanks Barneey, i hadnt seen Dellers strainer. its a thing of much beauty. There should be just enough room under the element to squeeze in a 'Deller patented filter' if im careful. Cheers Darkonnis, thats a good heads up. Armaflex is on the (growing) list of...

Re: Shiny Electric Keggle (many pics)

Thanks Barneey, thats high praise indeed considering your efforts in all things build. I was going to ask you about a tea infuser you posted on another topic. The keg is bottom draining and I was hoping i could fit one as a hop filter. where can such a thing be purchased? All the holes were with a q...

First test had it rolling 30 litres in under 30 mins. Next job is to buy some fresh grain and get the first batch...

Re: Southwold Summer IPA (American IPA style)

A couple of weeks ago Kegman posted a very handy chart of Adnams ale ingredients. http://www.jimsbeerkit.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=52921 Unfortunately you'll have to work out the ratios on your own and get your hands on some Adnams yeast but knowing the foundations helps a bit. I'm a big fan o...

Question for Party Star Deluxe tap users

Afternoon All,
My local ale shop in Bury St Edmunds has started to stock a selection of Philips Perfect Draft 6 litre kegs full of European ale. Does anyone know if my party star deluxe tap will work with these or do you need to buy the special Philips system?

many thanks,

Re: AG mythos

I would love to know a good clone of this could be made. Luckily down here in the East Adnams Cellar and Kitchen shops stock Mythos as does the Tesco outside of Woodbridge, Suffolk (although not sold as cheap as youd pay on a sunny island).

Re: Shiny Electric Keggle (many pics)

Andy, I quite liked the industrial 'death trap' look but if you insist... :) Id bought a double socket box but the keg widens making it difficult to house the thermostat and the element terminals in one. Now hunting for a small box to house just the terminals and then seal all the wires prior to fir...

Re: Shiny Electric Keggle (many pics)

Not sure how it became so shiny AceMcAce, all the hard graft in sourcing, cutting off the top, cleaning up the sides and sorting the ball valve was already done. The sad thing is I may well have to shroud it to prevent significant mash temp loss. I quite liked it as a sculptural piece of modern brew...

Shiny Electric Keggle (many pics)

Having lurked on this site for a while I thought I would share what I've ended up with and say thank you for the wealth of information I've gained from everyone else's posts. After getting good BIAB results from my plastic electrim boiler I decided on an upgrade to something a little more shiny. Luc...

Re: The Range new beer kits

Cheers Boingy, I had just stocked up at the Colchester homebrew shop so didnt risk a purchase on the unknown. The very non-descript labels were also a put off. The accessories did look good quality if not over priced. I think i'll pick up a couple of their offerings as they may be ripe for experimen...

The Range new beer kits

Afternoon All, Whilst being dragged on another shopping expedition I noticed something of possible interest in The Range (Colchester branch). I've managed to find a link to it on their website. http://www.therange.co.uk/pws/ProductDetails.ice?ProductID=51085&redirect=true I’ve been trying to find ...

Re: Silver can stout recipe

Yeah, I wasnt sure if the sachets were for the stout or the bitter I ordered but threw it in as an experiment. I also added 500g dark DME/ 500g brew sugar. When the muntons yeast finally arrived I got it started, 10 days in got the muntons stuck fermentation. I had to drop into another FV and repitc...
