Re: Turbo Cider Recipes, Methods and Taste Collection.

Probably a little, but cookers dont have a lot of sugar in them compared to eaters. Only thing i'd have done (especially as you've pulped your brambleys) is to chuck in a tsp of pectolase to break down the pulp.

Re: So, who's brewing what over Easter?

Tarweiber is bubbling away nicely :D Made with 900g of Golden Syrup and a 1/2 litre tea made with 12g crushed corriander seeds and 20g Bitter Curacao peel (incidentally, that went into the fermenter peel 'n' all) - I scaled down the add-ins at the last moment as I realised the kit was only a 15 lit...

Re: Dusseldorf Altbeir

You only need to steep things if they're supplied with the kit - in which case you'll need a grain bag from your homebrew supplier. Put the grains in the bag and just add to a pan of boiling water on a stove, just like a tea bag, and simmer gently for about 20-30 minutes, then turn off and let it si...

Re: Demijohns

Each 5l bottle just needs a 12mm hole boring in the cap and a 12mm grommet so you can fit an airlock. I have about 20 of the things now, most of them in service for making trial batches of turbo cider :)

I might even cross the border into some wine making soon

Re: Dusseldorf Altbeir

Nope, standard fermenter will be fine - they just want you to buy/use their equipment lol

Is this one of the "beers of the world" kits ? If so you might need to steep some grains and hops to add to the vessel but its a simple process.

Re: Confused

^^^^^^^^ What he said  ^^^^^^^^^ Yes and No. A beer kit enhancer is a 50:50 mix of spray malt extract (SME) and dextrose (brewing) sugar - so the malts you've linked to are PURE malt with no sugar added. You can make your own BKE by cutting SME and dextrose, you can also use pure dextrose (at t...

Re: spliiting a turbo half way through ferment ?

Cant see why not, but remember you increase the chances of infection if you start playing with the brew. Personally, i'd be taking a trip the shop for more super wine yeast  If you're set on this tho, you'll need to stir up the trub with a sterilised brew spoon and get into suspension before yo...

Re: Chocolate Stout Made Simple .....

Think there's been a number of people looking at the idea, just lots of routes to the same thing :)

Think the flavouring will dictate how much of each type you'd want to make - I adore coffee so I could easily modify a whole keg, whilst chocolate might be a bit sickly - horses for courses I guess :)

Re: Can I just throw yeast at apple juice?

Sounds about right for a straight TC :)

You can drink it pretty much straight away, but you'll thank yourself for a fortnight in the bottle first - goes from being "Cornershop White thunder" to something quite reasonable.

Oh... get the next one on ASAP !!
