Re: Salifert KH / Alkalinity test kit
All depends on what's being brewed. For an American lager or perhaps a Pilsner diluting with Ashbeck or similar cheap supermarket bottled water, to reduce repent alkalinity might be worth the effort. The expense and water wastage of RO maybe a step too far.

Re: Conical Recommendations
I have exactly the same set up as Kev, very happy with it. Have to say that 7gal. rather than the 14gal. that I have, would probably have been adequate. It's cooled and heated with a modified 310 Cornelius cooler. A 7gal. Would fit a large larder fridge.

Yes it should be fine just step up gradually when you see activity but don't rush the yeast, and be patient

Re: Hambledon Bard refill S30 discontinued
Seems to me all the homebrew shops should refuse to stock all Hambleton Bard Products, kits etc. That might concentrate their minds. !!!

You obviously have better inside knowledge
As an aside, on yeast, they brewed a few weeks ago with Cooper's yeast from Adelaide, Aus.
Gave somewhat better outcome than a Fosters. IMHO.

"The StA yeast was there before Roger Ryman - think HSD."
Exactly and the local name for the brewery was "'St Awful' and HSD was "High Speed Diesel" Things changed

Re: St Austel 'Proper Job' Cornish IPA - help please
Just the clarify over the years Roger Ryman has frequently confirmed that they use their yeast both for primary and the same yeast for bottle conditioning. Rumours otherwise, are based on bottling contracts they had with others many years ago. As for yeast source don't forget Roger came from a Scott...

Re: St Austell Brewery Yeast
It's live in bottles of Proper Job, buy a couple or three, drink 90%, save the yeast, make a starter, you now have St Austell yeast.π What Ive found is that the dregs of 6 bottles consumed whilst watching footy, chomping curry and naan bread is just about viable to get it kicked off...Thats what I ...

Re: Water analysis by Wallybrew/Pheonix analytical
 Always use a Wallybrew water test, should do more than once a year, but now that he's been told to put his prices up, thanks for that whoever suggested that. Any chance you could explain wtf you're talking about? And why you're so angry about it? A twisted evil emoji--a step too far, sure...
