Re: HSS Vapourised CO2 for sale?

Would be helpful if everyone with a local supply of gas such as Hydroponic Shops, added to the Gas Suppliers List HERE

Re: cornies, polykegs.... definitive setup thread

My first polykeg filled and gassed. =D> =D> How does it perform ? My 10 are still in a pile in the brewshed  Seems fine should have bought more, learning to balance pressure on the gas board, but the polykeg has worked well. I have force carbed beer, "Archie's Pride" that had been in a wilko c...

Re: cornies, polykegs.... definitive setup thread

Just picked up a co2 cylinder, from of all places a camping supplies shop. Which I found googling, it was referred to on an aquarium enthusiasts forum.

Re: Torrified wheat in lager?

Sounds a good start with a base malt Bohemian Pilsner. Carapils and Carahells are both Weyermann Trade names, for a very light Dextrine-Carapils and Light Crystal Malt - Carahell. Weyermann have a good english website with these and other products. http://www.weyermann.de/eng/produkte.asp?idkat=18&u...

Re: Torrified wheat in lager?

I suppose it depends on the lager style, a Kollsch from Cologne, might have up to 20% wheat malt.
I like wheat beers anyway. Another addition to help head retention often used in German lagers is Carafoam or Carapils.
Again depends on the style and your taste but about 6-8% perhaps.

Re: Starting a micro brewery

Interesting points about market saturation. I wonder what percentage of beer and lager drunk in UK is brewed in micros and how much is brewed by the mega brewers and how much by the independents. Judging by the fact that some independents like Hydes have a so called micro brewery in house the market...

Re: cornies, polykegs.... definitive setup thread

Thanks so to start off with my first keg I should find a single stage primary regulator either a welders one or a pub one with a pressure release valve. If is a pub one I should make sure it's not a mixed gas one as they a different to co2 primary regulator. ( cornies don't need a PRV valve because ...

Re: cornies, polykegs.... definitive setup thread

All helpful stuff but I'm still bit confused. So far as I can see unless I want to get clever with Guiness clone Stours or Smooth flow like beers I don't need mixed gas. Many e-bay primary regulators are for mixed gas so no good, ???? Some e bay primary regulators are single step/ stage down to 35 i...

Re: Brew Your Own British Real Ale (3rd Edition)- Graham Whe

Got me going straight in to all grain from a standing start just a few months ago. A very much appreciated book. The book helped me relate the brewing process to the beers I knew. That gave confidence to learn about other styles perhaps too soon. I really should now have Graham's other book which de...

Re: cornies, polykegs.... definitive setup thread

Gas Regulators Barneey post says that gas suppliers gas needs a primary And a secondary regulator. Is this to step down high pressure 200+ psi and then to further step down to the requirement of the particular beer and keg? If so how are people using mig welder regulators? They seem much cheaper tha...
