I don't bottle very often these days so haven't tried it but can't see any reason why not.

Re: A better spunding valve?
Hmm. Quick ale. That's what I was interested in. How quick is it? I will usually pitch at around 19C and then raise the temp by 1C per day to 22C (all at around 15PSI). Fermentation is usually done in 3-4 days. I leave it for another day or two to clean up and then cool to 2C, which takes about 12 ...

Re: A better spunding valve?
Yes, primarliy for lagers. Although I sometimes use it to ferment ales at a higheer temp and simultaneously carbonate if I need to get it finished in a rush.

Re: False bottom for Grainfather
I keep thinking about getting one of these for my GF. Where'd you get yours? I found one on AliExpress that looks like it might be the right one. £14 including shipping and several of the feedback comments say that it works with Grainfather so I think I'll take my chances with it. I will update her...

Re: A better spunding valve?
The blowtie valve that I ordered from the kegland store on AliExpress arrived last week and I now have it spunding away on a beer that I made over the weekend. I am very happy with it: it seems to hold a really steady pressure and is very easy and quick to fine-tune. Overall a vast improvement on th...

Re: False bottom for Grainfather
All that got through was a bit of break material which the pump has no problem dealing with.

Re: False bottom for Grainfather
Done my first brew using the new false bottom and very happy with it so far. I set the flow rate at the start of transfer from kettle to fermenter, through the chiller, and there was not noticable drop-off throughout. Normally I would constantly be fiddling because the flow rate would gradually decr...

Good tip. ThanksFUBAR wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 5:19 pmI got a pair of pliers and just bent the ring around far enough to clear the bottom of the grain basket with mine , glad it is still in place because if I use a fair amount of hop pellets the FB needs quite a tug to get it out as it almost makes an airtight seal .

Re: False bottom for Grainfather
The false bottom arrived from China ten days after placing the order - pretty impressive! The false bottom fits the GF perfectly although I had to remove the lifting ring because it stands to proud for the grain basket to go in. I might try to source/fashion a folding pull ring, but it probably isn'...

False bottom for Grainfather
I have frequent problems with my Grainfather pump getting blocked with hop debris. I have seen several suggestions that Robobrew/Brewzilla 35L false bottom v3.1 helps prevent this happening - see this link , for example. 1. Has anyone tried this and does it work? 2. I am struggling to find this bott...

Re: A better spunding valve?
Many thanks for all the excellent advice. I'm going to give the blowtie valves a go. As Mashbag has pointed out, most of the components can be repurposed if it doesn't work out.
