Re: Greene king vintage ale ?

Wonder what's the best proven bottled yeast to use nowadays? Im enjoying using the Gales strain that I got out of a bottle of HSB I think its brewed by fullers now. I've used fullers 1845 yeast many times and the bonus is you get a fab pint to drink while preparing the starter[emoji481] Sent from m...

Re: Immersion chiller, think ill go back to no chill

So for christmas i bought my self a cold crank immersion chiller from beer hawk. The main reason i went for this design was the tails are 55cm long and i brew 23ltrs in a 100ltrs so i get around 13cm of final liquid in the pan. So a standard chiller wouldnt fit and i didnt want to make my own as im...

Re: Red X experience

I brewed a triple mash with 100% red x . Ended up with 3 beers 7% ,5 % and 4.3% . Most dissapointing. The 4.3 on hand pump was ok ish . The stronger brews I discarded because of a flat 'papery ' taste . Been brewing 40 years and hardly ever had such a dissapointment. I will stick to pale malt + crys...

Re: TCP off flavour

I used to use chlorine/ Milton etc and I got tcp taint despite rinsing . Apparently some people are much more sensitive to this off flavour than others. I can even smell it ! I banned chlorine and boiled every drop of water . Cured! Since then I purchased inline water filters and don't preboil water...

I use loads of protocol and mixture of leafs/pellets . I use bazooka hop strainer and I have 100% free flowing run offs.

Re: Bottled Conditioned Beers where they gone???

I know the pj yeast will work well .. so good luck . It's bit slow in fermenter but doesn't need rousing or anything .. unless it is dead sluggish . Don't think it worked well when I tried to repitch though .
