Hundreåring

Hi, I am coming up for my 100th all-grain brew and decided to use Mangrove Jack's Voss Kveik yeast to ferment it. The name of the brew is Centenarian and the Norwegian translation is Hundreåring (according to Google Translate), so that is what I am going to call it. This post is a little bit prematu...

Re: Suggest me a first extract kit

There are instructions for extract kits on the Geterbrewed website. I would imagine the kit comes with instructions too.

Re: Suggest me a first extract kit

What equipment do you have? You will need a large pot for boiling the wort and hops before cooling and transferring to the FV. Not sure how comprehensive the instructions are in those kits, but plenty of help available on this forum.

Sussex Hops

I purchased these hops from A Bushel of Hops last year, but haven't used them yet. I have a recipe I am planning to brew sometime soon which calls for EKG. I don't currently have any EKG hops, but wondered if I could sub these Sussex hops. Has anyone tried them? Sent from my LG-H870DS using Tapatalk

Re: Amber Ale

Interesting. Was considering dry hopping a bitter I am currently brewing. Might drop them in at the same time as I am crash cooling. Usually dry hop at fermenting temp.
I think Brewdog dry hop at 14C.

Re: Standard Brown Ale

Surprised nobody replied to this and this is a bit late, but this subject has been discussed on Jim's before. Graham Wheeler's brewing software uses a different calculation from others such as Beersmith. He claimed that the other brewing software used a method which was flawed and therefore his soft...

Re: Brew Dog Cybernaut Mash at 0 degrees C?!

I guess these recipes are not typed up by a brewer therefore leading to mistakes.
Just had a look at the "Get Out Claus" recipe which states 1 gram of Columbus to give 25 IBUs!
Maybe the Cybernaut mash temp is 70C.

Re: Stout Trouble

I'm a bit late to the party here, but just wondered if you had adjusted the GW recipe to suit your normal efficiency, or did you brew it exactly as the book. I think his recipes are based on 75% efficiency so if yours is normally lower that could affect it.

Re: Mandarin Dream

£19.52 for 750ml on the page I looked at. Seems expensive, but I doubt if you would need much for 5 gallons of beer. Think it works out cheaper than the extract I used. There are other cheaper options on Amazon.

Click on the Union Jack at bottom of the page. Takes you to Amazon UK where you can buy it.

Re: Mandarin Dream

That might explain the problem I had. I used Asda's version of Valencian Orange Extract which I see has 20% orange oil and the rest is rapeseed.

Re: Mandarin Dream

That looks very similar to what I used. Oil of orange being the main ingredient. Be interesting to see what effect it has on the head of your beer. Unless of course you don't like a head on your beer in which case you should be fine.[emoji2][emoji481]
