Re: Pump recommendation
Hi, Apologies if what I do is not helpful but... I set up a water butt near my brew kit and put in a dozen or so 1 litre PET bottles full of ice. I use a water butt pump to transfer water from my actual water butt to the ice filled one. For wort cooling I put the pump in the iced water butt, pump th...

Re: marks 2 keg washer
Why not buy a pond/fountain pump, an ebay footswitch and use an old fv as a reservoir?? a couple of bricks up ended should make a keg stand as long as the top rubbers are intact. but i am a cheepskate ;) I wouldn't mind a purpose built one some day, but I use a water butt pump with a spray ball att...

Re: Crossmyloof Brewery Dry Yeast
I have a patersbier in the FV at the moment. The brew fridge smells amazingly of banana!
Looking forward to seeing how quickly and low it finishes.

Re: Grainfather pump
Hi, The pump failed on my nearly new Grainfather recently. It worked at lower temp such as mash recirculation but when recirulating at the end of boil to sanitize the chiller it failed. Made an awful noise and refused to work. Seems to have been temperature related as worked again when cooler but fa...

Re: how low avarage cost of a pint
not forgetting the time spent at the brewface.. Its a full days work or more spread over 3-4week period. But cheaper beer is only one benefit of the pastime.. Yes indeed. I just love making and sharing (mostly) good beer with my family and friends, especially now my garden bar is approaching comple...

Re: how low avarage cost of a pint
Depends, mainly whether you buy your grain by the kg, or by 25kg sack. Also whether you use liquid yeast or dried. Reckon the cheapest you could go is 25kg of muntons lager malt for £15, 200g of hops for about £6 and 5 sachets of Cross my loof kolsch yeast for about £3.65. In total £25 for about 20...

Re: Belle Saison - Preferred temperature range
Interested to hear folks views on what is their preferred temperature range using this yeast? I have used it before but kept it on the low side at 17 then a rise to 20c. I have brewed a Saison today, pitching the yeast at 18.5c however letting the fridge naturally rise to 25c using BrewPi where I a...

Re: Cheap Temperature Controller For Kegerator
Hi Floyd, I have an Inkbird 308 I was about to advertise. It is a few months old and is as new but I have now built a control panel for my 3 fridges, built in to thb e bar I'm my man cave. I can post it to you for £18 (bank transfer or PayPal personal payment) if you fancy it. If not, I will open it...

Re: All Pilsener in a saison; too plain?
Hi, My last saison recipe started as 80/20 pilsner / maris otter with EKG for bittering and a little Bobek late on. I couldn't resist lobbing some sugar late in the boil too! Used Belle Saison and let it go all the way to 28 degrees during fermentation. Went (if I remember correctly as I am not near...

Re: Crusader Queries
Hi,
I would really appreciate the details of Kammac. Unwell have a Google and see what I can find, but any other info appreciated.
I just bought a 30 litre keg from Brew UK but would be pleased to get my next few a little cheaper!

Yes it is still produced. I bought some at Booths supermarket in Ilkley a week or so ago. The Grand Reserve version (may be cask only?) is 6.5% and amazing too.

Re: Mangrove Jacks French Saison yeast
I brewed a split batch to compare this MJ yeast and the Belle Saison and I prefer the MJ. Ramped it up to 28 degrees over a few days and it attenuated really well.
Really nice flavour profile and probably my best beer yet!
