Re: Quick Brew for Xmas - suggestions

Thanks Marcus. Now seen Wilko out of stock on-line. Will check out stores locally and if that fails, onto Coopers me thinks!

Re: Quick Brew for Xmas - suggestions

Coopers get mentioned quite a bit so that's one worth looking at although, having just seen Wilko have reduced their Real Ale kit to £12.75 - that might get first shout, providing of copurse I can get hold of one!

Re: Quick Brew for Xmas - suggestions

Thanks Manngold

Hadn't picked up on the fact the Wheery was a longer lead time than many of the others - chosen for the good reviews and the fact suitable for an outright novice like myself. Will have a look at what the local Wilko has in as many seem to rate them on the homebrew front.

Quick Brew for Xmas - suggestions

Assuming I can bottle the Wherry this weekend (see Wherry - leave it a bit longer on Friday) is there anything else I can brew in time for Xmas this weekend or is it too late now and do it justice? Needs to be a straight forward off the shelf kit - although I have 30g Goulding hops which I was going...

Re: Wherry - leave it a bit longer?

Hi Charles

Thanks for the reply. I didn't want to mess with it to be honest so am happy to do as you suggest and leave for another week - can't come to any harm although it pushes tasting time back a bit further!

In the warmest spot I have but will give it a gentle stir tomorrow.

Cheers

Wherry - leave it a bit longer?

Well my first brew didn't exactly spring to life and I've never seen the airlock actually bubble but it must have been doing something as the level has always shown to have more pressure inside the bucket than out. Last 24 hours though the level doesn't seem to have moved much - if at all. Been in s...

Re: Hope the first brew is OK!

Cheers Manngold So ignore the stated 6-8 days on the kit? Makes sense thinking about is as the best kit brew I ever did was one i forgot about was under the stairs. Sat there for a couple of weeks and then another 10 days whilst on holiday. When we came back the settlement on top was practically sol...

Hope the first brew is OK!

2nd post having joined on Monday. The Woodfordes Wherry was brewed on Monday and, from experience decades ago, rather expected the thing to burst into life within 24 hours - not the case! There is some pressure there as the airlock balances are uneven, but doesn't seem to be any change for the first...
