I'm glad to hear that it's improving for you, I can't think of anything worse than a brew going bad, especially your first one.
I thought my lager was good at 4 weeks old, but now it's 10 weeks old its as good as any commercial bottled lager IMO

Re: Bottling priming rates
Hi mickhew
No, it's not flat, I'm just comparing it to my bottled NOG that has a lovely head.
It does taste good, so I shouldn't really worry

Re: I know it's early days but.........
I never made it to my LHBS in the end today, so I'm going to double check the SG again in the morning, and then bottle 10L (20 x 500ml) and keg the other 13L.
It will still come in around 4.5% ABV before secondary starts

Re: I know it's early days but.........
I've googled it and see that it's a yeast nutrient, how much would I need, as Im off to my LHBS at lunchtime today and might give it a whirl?

Re: Tarwebier
Back again. It must have been a dodgey crown cap seal, because the second bottle that I opened gave that lovely pfffttt sound! As this is only a 2 week old sample, I can only give a basic idea of the standard kit. The taste is very similar to the 2 week old sample of my Triple, but not as potent. It...

Re: Tarwebier
Well, I opened a tester bottle of Tarwebier and it was dead flat, no fizz! I had a little taste and it wasn't off at all...........hmmnn
I've popped another bottle in the fridge and will try again later, maybe the crown cap didn't seal properly?

Re: Brewferm Framboos
It's certainly a nice drink, not sure when I will brew it again though, because there's too many other kits to try
I would like to try the kriek kit but its very expensive.

Bottling priming rates
I am now sampling the odd bottle of Muntons Smugglers Ale, and the beer has almost no head to it. I bottled this with half a teaspoon of brewing sugar per 500ml bottle as per instructions, but I am sure I used more when I bottled my NOG and that has a perfect head. I will probably be bottling about ...

Re: Golden Syrup
I'm using some for the first time in a Brewferm Gallia kit. I think that I am correct in saying that it's about 80% fermentable, so I've used a 680g jar of Tesco value syrup (77p) for a kit suggested 500g of sugar. It's currently fermenting like a good 'un. Will let you know how it turns out.

Re: HOMEBREW SUPPLIERS
I stumbled across this site while googling some yeast - http://www.brewsmarter.co.uk/index.asp I placed an order yesterday (Bank Holiday Monday) and it has been despatched today, cant ask for more than that. I will update this post when my order arrives. Much better than a certain site that has robb...
