Re: Porter
More or less settled on a coffee porter but getting tad lost in the research can anyone suggest the best way to add the coffee (boil or fermenter) and how much of what type ?

Porter
Evening folks little bit of advice needed, I have a base porter recipe that I'm more or less happy with and I'm currently brewing 55 litre batches (2 x 25 litres and a demijohn tester) I have experimented with vanilla essence to the stage that I am happy enough to do a 25 litre batch of vanilla port...

Re: Pale crystal malt %
Thanks guys for your advice I take the point and after all that I didn't end up brewing the beer intended as the yeast strain I had ready was "Marble" which is better suited in my opinion to pales (ended up with a Riwaka SMASH) but I've started two starters for next brew a Timmy Taylor and WLP 13 fo...

Pale crystal malt %
I may be able to get a brew on at the weekend and having had a look at my grain supplies I have an abundance of pale crystal malt, I just don't seem to be using it at all preferring normal crystal. As such I was thinking along the lines of a 50% pale crystal malt grist in the brew, possibly traditio...

Re: Splitting a White Labs Yeast
It's not viable to store yeast longer than two weeks...so if long term storage is the intent I'd look at creating slants. I have been splitting vials for a while now as per Horden Billy's method but using un fermented wort they have remained viable for up to six months, however when I tried it with...

Re: Splitting White Labs Liquid Yeast Vials
I do this quite a bit I basically pitch the vail into 2 litres of wort left over from a brew let it ferment out then split it into 10 250ml lemonade bottles. Perfect size for a starter. Horden hillbillys video shows you how in detail

Re: Dark Star Revelation - FACT based takedown!
I like the idea of this recipe but I'm getting hung up on the hop schedule. Citra will dominate followed by Cascade and the Liberty will be lost so I got to thinking a ratio of 3:2:1 Liberty,Cascade,Citra what do others think ?
