I know, I know.
I emailed Crusader this morning for another spear, the square tab type, and they said they would replace the 'tapered' one under guarantee. Happy days

Re: King keg to tap a draft system
I would say that it would be ok but you may end up with a lot of foam if your pouring warm beer. Its best to transfer cold beer. I say give it a go. Take your time when pouring from the King Keg

Re: Kegs arrived, 30l
Quick update, I just swapped the spears over and I'm as happy as a pig in sh!t  No leaks what so ever. I only just noticed that I've got 2 EWL couplers and 1 DSi. The EWL coupler was easier for me to put on the spear with the square tabs, that would mean it would be even easier on the taper...

Re: 20 litre Franke Kegs (traditional)
Keep us updated Clive. At least we've got a mixture of keg couplers and have identified any potential issues early on. My plans for tomorrow are to swap the spear over on my filled keg, connect gas and get a few pints sampled ... Sunday will be, rince the keg and refill

Re: 20 litre Franke Kegs (traditional)
Same as what I thought. Good job I didnt have 2 tapered spears. I would have been in hell of a pickle. The DSi couplers are very slack on the tapered ones.

Re: 20 litre Franke Kegs (traditional)
Thats cheap! I'll ask if Justin will swap mine, otherwise I'll just buy another.
Out of interest, what type did you have Clive (the tabs type), square or tapered?

Re: Kegs arrived, 30l
Ok. Sounds like the Micromatic connectors are a tighter fit. I have 3 DSi connectors and they are the same, loose on the chamfered tabs. At least I can swap the spear over for now

Re: Kegs arrived, 30l
Im not in the house at the mo but Im sure the lugs are the same. I didn't know if it was for ease of putting on the coupler but the problem is it offers no resistance. Im sure Crusader will swap it for me if it turns out to be duff
Bob, what are the tabs like on yours?

Re: Kegs arrived, 30l
I know, I'm glad you see what I mean. I dont know if its a manufacturing fault or by design. I'm convinced when I swap the spear over it will be leak free.
PS. That Star San is good stuff isn't it! I had to measure it out using a syringe. LOTS of foam

Re: Kegs arrived, 30l
Right, I've had another look at the spears and they are different. One has tapered 'tabs' and the other has square 'tabs'. The one with square tabs when I put the coupler on I have to crank it to the stops, its a really tight fit. The one that is tapered I can hit the stops on the coupler using my t...

Re: Kegs arrived, 30l
I'll have to try the other couplers tomorrow. Or the other spear. It just dont seem right to me. The little bit of tension on the gas line was causing the coupler to twist.
Is there a knack to putting them on? Or does it just seal every time?

Re: Kegs arrived, 30l
Yes, ive got 3 connectors. They all have 2 rubber pieces on them. I have noticed that the 2 spears are slightly different from eachother. The 2 tabs on the one are slightly tapered whereas the other isnt. The other one seems a more snug fit. What about being able to turn the connector anti clockwise...

Re: Kegs arrived, 30l
Right, bit of help needed. Got my first keg filled but I seem to have a co2 leak from around the keg connector? I dont know what to expect but the keg connector seems loose to me when its engaged, it seems to be easy to sort of undo even once engaged. Is this normal?
Thanks
