I usually/always brew in the kitchen. I open the small top window and usually the (outside) door while the boil is on.
Some people use extractor fans if they don't have an outside door.

Re: Grainfather 30L
Just proves that no "this is the way to do it" works for everyone.
My system works for me, it may work for the OP it may not. Worst case he needs to fill a FV with the sparge water and treat it there, can still use COLD water.

Re: Grainfather 30L
Yes otherwise the boil will just move the hops about again. At "flameout" I start whirlpooling only takes a min or so using the drill. Leave for another few min to settle then start the pump.

Re: Grainfather 30L
To avoid the clogged filter on the GF. Whirlpool at the end of the boil. A couple of min spent whirlpooling the wort will pay vast dividends. I use a short paint stirrer on a cordless drill to do mine. Then leave for a min or so to settle. You can then run the pump to sanitise the chiller. Been doin...

Re: Corny Party Tap Advice
I used one of those direct connect ones for long time, till I fitted by external tap, No real problem with frothing as long as you keep the psi down to <10. I used to use the plastic tap on the end of a 1M pipe but found that one better (the direct connect).

Re: Grainfather 30L
Been doing it for about a year now. Not noticed any downside apart from a slightly longer time to come to the boil, but if you switch to boil when you start sparging it is minimal.

Re: Grainfather 30L
I used to brew to 27L with my 3v system, but now brew to 23 or 20 (for cornies).
You need to look at ~4L boil off over an hour.
You can do 27L @1050 quite easily.
Or 20L @ 1080 if you wanted to.

Since it is designed to be added as a laundry additive for white material, it should work at up to 100C. (Hot/boil wash)john luc wrote:Oxi is best used at 40C as there is enzymes in it and just like mashing thats their best working temp
Never heard of this 40C rule either.

Re: Grainfather quetion
The chiller is the best I have used. Not so great in hotter climbs apparently. I clean after use with oxy heated to 66 and pumped through the chiller and the mash pipe for 15 min each. Then boiling water for 15 min each. To sanitize I connect for the last 10 min of the brew and cycle through the chi...
