Keg Pressure loss - Schoolboy error

I had an impromptu brew night yesterday to get something fermenting whilst I am away for the week at half term. I was fairly rushed and trying (badly) to multitask. I kegged my latest brew to free up a FV and hooked up with co2 etc. I rewarded myself at the end of it all by having a few pints from a...

You calibrate it with water and just plop in a sample. Simples.

Re: Boiling in an Erlenmeyer flask

I am unsure on dosage comparison / concentration however it seems to be similar as silicone based. I find it very effective as I use it for starters and also in the kettle. Another tip when boiling in the flask is to never add yeast nutrient when boiling :D. I add that with the DME before boiling. D...

Re: Boiling in an Erlenmeyer flask

You can use product such as this which help. You only need a tiny amount in water and can then add when coming to the boil, give the flask a swirl and it will more or less control it. I keep it in a 50ml spray bottle, it means I no longer get any boil overs when making starters as you have just expe...

Re: Water analysis by Wallybrew/Pheonix analytical

It is a part of brewing which for many is something to master. I am going to get another analysis and compare at least from the last. I suspect my profile will still be very soft but it will be interesting nonetheless to compare.

Re: Yeast harvest with unitank

I see they are planning a revamped one. I like watched the video and it sounds promising as it will support a thermowell in the lid plus the bottle attachment will have an extra to allow you to pressurise with co2 and vent when dry hopping before opening up the butterfly valve which helps to avoid i...

Re: Amazon deal on "Clone Brews"

It came this afternoon, less than 15 hours from ordering :). I have had a skim through it and looks like I will be trying quite a few of these across the different types sometime soon. There is a great choice and variety included. Thanks for advising of it.

Re: Yeast harvest with unitank

This is a Helles which is currently having a D rest. I pitched the full lot of yeast (M76) from the previous batch I had collected in the sodastream bottle.

Re: Yeast harvest with unitank

I have a fermentasaurus also and have experienced this issue. Firstly it is best if yeast has finished completely before removing, also do not have it filled right to the brim to leave a little head space. What I would then do is is release the pressure every day or so by unscrewing a bit to let any...

Re: Gas burner

When I moved to all grain I started on gas using a Blichmann burner (called Hellfire or something now) which could get an amazing boil but it was quite fiddly as noted above. I ended up going electric after a short time and have no complaints. With gas you do need to factor in having a replacement b...

Re: What's the minimum batch size on a SS Brewtech 5.5 Pot?

Brew UK do a mini bucket which is suitable for smaller batches. Not sure on 1 gallon batches as I have no real experience of using a fermenter with so much head space.

I got one 2 years ago and agree with all of the above, great service and works well with the calculator on the site. I think I will reach out and get another one now reading this! :)
