Re: Help! Fermentation stopped after 3 days

Thanks for the tip, the temp thing is what I was thinking, i don't have a warming belt for my fv and whilst our house isn't freezing we do like it cooler than some.

Btw what is the krausen? Is that the frothy yeasty top?

Help! Fermentation stopped after 3 days

As per the title, I had a good O.G. I made a yeast starter and the yeast was pretty lively, pitched and fermentation started but has now stopped. Is it worth trying to get it going again or is it time to ditch it and start again? :(

Thanks.

Designing your own beer.

So first BIAB is done and fermenting away and already my mind is turning to the next one! Thing is I quite fancy making something of my own creation, I have an idea I'm just not sure how to calculate the quantities of grain and hops to water ratio and how to estimate the final ABV. Before everyone s...

Re: First brew - Get Er brewed APA "Hoppy"

Re: volume loss, that makes more sense now, i didn't weigh the grains but even 4.5kg is probably on the conservative side, my guess-timate was about 6kg. Fv is in the cupboard under the stairs as it probably has the most consistent temperature in the house, although i doubt it's quite 20C, and ferme...

Re: First brew - Get Er brewed APA "Hoppy"

Yeah reading that there is a bit of a disparate, although there was a couple of litres in the boiler that was full of the bloom stuff so I probably lost 2 or 3 litres there as I chucked it rather than put it into the fermenter, i didn't sparge the grains at all and didn't squeeze the bag too hard, a...

First brew - Get Er brewed APA "Hoppy"

First brew ever today using BIAB, my wife got me the BIAB beginners kit from Get Er brewed for Christmas and this formed the basis of my kit, i did in addition get a digital thermometer, a couple of large garden buckets, and a fish tank pump to re-circulate the water from the wort chiller, the kit a...

Re: A couple of questions before i start

Thanks for all the replies.

Dave-Leeds, I got a Biab starter kit for Christmas and it has a 32 litre Peco boiler, first recipe is the all grain kit that came with it, an American pale ale by the name of Hoppy.

A couple of questions before i start

I'm just about ready to start my first brew using BIAB and have a couple of questions to ask just to help clarify things for me. Firstly sparging, i've watched a couple of videos and read a couple of guides and some seem to say to sparge and others don't, so should i or shouldn't i and how much wate...
