Re: Low calorie beer 2.8% Alc
Have a look through the "Basic Brewing" video podcasts, I seem to remember them doing a couple of very low gravity beers. One was called "Baby Ale", just over 2%, using a lot of Caramalt for body, and based on a commercial beer. I`d like to try a low-gravity beer, so keep us posted on how you get on...

Re: Hop Growing 2012
I`m about to harvest my first crop of WGV and Progress hops. They don`t appear to be as ripe as PDTNC`s, as they`re still mostly green, but are fragrant if I open them a little. Another few days should see them ready. On a related note, wild hops seem to have had a dismal year locally ( I`m in Cambr...

Re: beer on! end of bag stout
sure us. best hobby i have ever had. 0 Amen to that. I`m starting to regret all the time I`ve wasted NOT brewing beer. Brewing has been a constant source of wonder and amazement, and I`ve really shattered a few peoples misconceptions about homebrew. I feel almost ashamed to admit that I`m not some ...

Re: Sweeter older style Mild; SarahHughes/Gales/Other?
It`s too late now, but I did the BYOBRA Gales Festival Mild as my 3rd AG, towards the end of last year. I`ve only got a few left, having given most to friends, and the response has been uniformly positive. Probably near the top of my list of AG`s I`ve done so far.

Re: Help on GW,s recipes for first AG brew
Kev, could I email you for a copy of your brewday checklist, if you`d be so kind ? I started to draw up my own, in preparation for my first AG, but got a bit bogged down, and I`d much prefer a "road-tested" list. I also had the same queries regarding mash volumes etc, so this thread has been really ...

Re: Adapted Kit Recipes.
I started a John Bull London Porter yesterday,as per Barl Fire`s recipe earlier in this thread, but added 100g of choc malt to the 100g of crystal malt when I steeped, and made it up to 40 pints. It`s going like the clappers, and the aroma`s pretty special. I`m currently drinking a Cooper`s Wheat Be...

Re: Coopers Mexican - Very Fast Fermentation Time?
This is my first post on the forum, so hi all. I brewed a Coopers Mex. as my World Cup tipple, and early tastings reveal it to be slightly citrusy, a little sweet and v. refreshing when chilled. I used 100% brewing sugar with this one and primed with a teaspoon of sugar. I`m tempted by the Thriftysh...
