Re: Using an under bed storage box as an HLT
When I stated a Polypropylene under bed storage box what I meant was something like this but after reading some of the points and some thought of the time I faff about and get a box, element and tap, for the same rough cost I am just going to get one of these to save issues and sit it on a set of st...

Using an under bed storage box as an HLT
The problem with a Grainfather and all one vessel systems is they are really two vessel systems if you sparge, at the moment I heat my sparge water in the Grainfather and transfer it to my bottling bucket and keep it in the brew fridge till its needed. To cut out this added time I was thinking of ma...

Re: So, which one; BM or GF?
I am a Grainfather owner and I love it, it allowed me to go from kits to all grain in one package as the chiller is included. However I would be lying if I said I wouldn't swap it for a Braumeister as they are better, but they cost more so they should be. Whatever you buy you won't regret, I have ye...

Re: Gamebeer Kegerator
At the moment all three are the same pressure so I just open the secondary valves fully and then set it on the primary. Once I start setting for different pressures I have a gauge with a drain off valve to set them.

Re: Gamebeer Kegerator
The third keg is a 12ltr short model which sits under the regulator. The drip tray as with the wood are attached by short but squat stainless self tapping screws. I don't intend the drip tray too see much weight.

Re: Equipment and cost
Don't know your budget but I feel the Grainfather is a great piece of kit for an AG starter or the Braumeister which I have yet to hear a bad word about. I did post this earlier in the year. For the record I have pre ordered a Grainfather and I am looking forward to starting on AG (Been doing kits f...

Re: Sparging
My efficiency for this one was 87% measured, are you mashing out? I mash for 90mins, 80mins at the 64-69 range (depends on the recipe) then raise to 74c for the last 10 mins. The sparge water temp is close to 74c as well.

Re: Sparging
What is it your doing that you think is wrong? I just fill my bottling bucket with 80c water and keep it in my brew fridge till I need it (it normally drops to 70 oddish). I then, depending on how much sparge water I have, jug it or hold the bucket and crack the tap to steadily add the water into th...

As John Guest fitting don't seal on stainless steel pipe/fittings I used these to connect my beer line to the shanks as you can see in this thread
