Re: Question about grain percentages
My main suggestion would be that if you liked your recipe packs that you've done previously, do a similar recipe and just vary one thing. That way you know what you did, and what the end result was. Or otherwise make your first recipe one that is very simple (e.g. a best bitter that is mostly pale ...

Re: Question about grain percentages
You're right, did a bit of research myself and was about to post this . Basically my understanding it is to do with the "diastatic power" of the malt/mash where the speciality malt have a low or zero lintner value, very simply a mash/malt need a lintner value of over 30°L to work so if you follow th...

Question about grain percentages
Having done my first two AG brew now and both were AG recipe packs I would like to make my own recipe, I am using beer smith and it seems straight forward enough but the question is, are the maximum percentages for a type of malt used in the mash stackable or is it accumulative? For example Marris O...

Re: Grainfather underletting
Can't really comment on the crush but it seemed as good as the first kit AG kit I did, my only complaint about the kit is their is little info with them, the grain is just one bag marked grain and the hops are just marked with a time, no info on what is in what bag or anything. The instructions are ...

Re: Grainfather disaster
Out of curiosity, slipped how? My bottom filter plate is a tight fit there is no room for lateral movement or is there something I need to watch for?

Grainfather underletting
Did my second brew the other day on the grainfather an Irish Red kit from Thehomebrewcompany which I purchased when I got my kegs. Anyway as I was getting ready to brew I remembered a thread on Jims about under letting, this was used more on mash tuns but the principle seemed to be viable for the Gr...

Re: Shiny Taps and columns for cornies/mini bar
Most taps will fit to John Guest speedfit fittings usually 3/8 from that your good to go to a cornie. But for a more specific answer you would have to be more specific.

Re: Gamebeer Kegerator
Would no nails do the trick to stick some wood on yo side. Then screw into that? Not sure but there was nothing in the sides just the back so there was no problems. Emptied the fire extinguisher by accident while playing around with the pressures so I upgraded to the real deal today. 2015-05-29 16....

Re: Gamebeer Kegerator
No danger in drilling the doors, but it was nerve racking putting screws in the side. I run the fridge on full with the door open for an hour and where the coils were condensation and ice formed.

Re: Gamebeer Kegerator
Thanks for the link that looks like the sort of thing I was after but I'm in the NE of Scotland so any sort of postage far outways the cost of some things. The extinguisher idea is a well used one and was recommended by a local aquarium/tropical fish shop owner as a lot of his customers are using th...

Gamebeer Kegerator
Posted this on the FB page (and everywhere else as I'm chuffed) but I thought I'd put it on here as well with a bit more input. Being a 41 year old man child I decided to combine my two favorite past times into one. The GameBeer. http://i.imgur.com/8WbJCW4.jpg Started with a fridge from tescos (rack...
