Re: Simple Cheap and Tasty, Raspberryade
Shaking after you add the yeast shouldn't be a problem, although it might mean a lot of your yeast end up covering your fermenting vessel rather than in your brew. I'd say the temperature is probably ok but 22C is a little on the high side any way. Fermenting 'hot' will mean you get a lot of esters ...

Re: Simple Cheap and Tasty, Raspberryade
Hello. After 2 weeks i checked the gravity and hit 1.020. I was a little disappointed but after reading on here people waiting 3/4 weeks then i left it another week. After 3 weeks it was still at 1.020. Checked the pH with cheap strips and it was below 3.Thinking this could of caused the yeast to s...

Re: Simple Cheap and Tasty, Raspberryade
... Hoping it will end up less than 1.017 before I have to keg which will work out at 5% and not too sweet. Plan is to crash cool +/- gelatine, force carbonate in a corny keg and then transfer to my as yet unused Ecofass keg and serve with a party pump. Checked this today (3 days after pitching) an...

Re: Help me find a connector
I think this combination from RS would work but it'd be good if I could find something easier/cheaper!

Help me find a connector
I'm in the process of making some turbo cider for a lads and girls weekend away which is going to be force carb'd and transfered to an as yet unused Ecofass keg. It's a bag-in-a-keg setup where the 'gas in' goes around the bag so you can use anything you want... I will be using air from a party pump...

Re: Simple Cheap and Tasty, Raspberryade
Got round to making a batch of this for myself today. I used one each of the Raspberry, Blackcurrant and Raspberry & Lemon as well as 1l of Suma Apple Juice Concentrate . I added 1kg of unrefined light brown sugar to 1 litre of tap water and heated until dissolved. I then added 7 tea bags and 4 teas...

Re: water profile for summer lightning clone
I've used this for SRM 8 beers before:
Ca=110, Mg=18, Na=16, Cl=50, SO4=275
It's designed to be a hop forward profile so might fit well with what you're trying to achieve. It's similar to Randy Mosher's pale ale setup. Have and look and see how it compares to the Bru'n profiles.

Re: Simple Cheap and Tasty, Raspberryade
I've been reading this thread for a long time and plan to get a batch on in a few weeks. As a note to myself or others who don't want to sift through all the posts there are two-ish recipes. Most people use the original on page one, adjusting the amount of sugar to get the ABV they want. WalesAles h...

Re: Polish conical fermenters
Did anyone pick one of these up yet? I tried to contact them, however it seems impossible to communicate, very slow replies, and their english is pretty bad. I got a PM reply within a few hours... English wasn't great but far from incomprehensible. Might be an option, at least it will give them a h...

Re: Polish conical fermenters
The company has posted in the Home Brew Suppliers section so I guess they are keen to sell to the UK. Might be worth looking for a JBK discount?

Re: Bru N Water - Brewery/Beer profiles
I couldnt tell you from experience as I haven't brewed the same recipe with different profiles but I think that it's a case of hop vs malt flavour. It's probably a bit of both but I imagine a good hop schedule will do more than the water would.

I bought all my mineral salts from Mineral Waters Ltd on eBay. Very good service and great containers.
