Re: FV temp control

Many thanks Jambo,
I'm going to keep it simple, I'll keep at 20'c throughout and drop to 12'c at the end.

I'm bottle conditioning so I want the beer as clear as possible.

Re: FV temp control

Many thanks Jambo,

I'll try that after maturation . Do you alter the temp during fermentation ? Or is this just for lager
Styles.?

Re: FV temp control

Up date on this, and returning to the original topic of FV control. At the weekend I finally entered AG brewing. No pictures of the brew day as it was far too stressful!. Several cockups, including forgetting to pre-warm the MT  Initial mash temp was 60'C , a quick boil of liqour and I got it ...

Re: Hawkshead Drystonewall Stout

Many thanks Orlando, I'll give it a go.
Deadfall it,s hard to compare , close to t'll bar stout, or green man's lurches . Sweeter and rounder than an Irish stout

Re: Hawkshead Drystonewall Stout

OK this one has bombed, if you get a chance try it , as a major stout drinker this stuff is fantastic. So what I'm after is some thing that is well balanced, not too bitter probably slightly sweet. Nice roast flavours a little chocolate/ cramel / fruit with a dry ish finish, with a good head for a h...

Hawkshead Drystonewall Stout

I've had this a couple of times when it's on at my boozer. It's absolutely fantastic stuff. As a newbie AG brewer , I'm starting with a simple bitter, but I would love to make something close to the Hawkshead ready for Xmas. Has anyone got a similar recipe?.

Cheers

Well there was nowt on telly tonight so: http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m114/Cheezies-co-uk/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsf18d70a8.jpg two tins of paint clamped in my workmate, some dodgy bends, but not too bad. Re: New AG tower build

Cheers Fil, It's amazing how things change as your going a long, glad I didn't have a clear idea so more keen to research. One other reason for the figure of eight is I've got a temp prob in the middle of the HLT/boiler. Bit of an oversight.!Thought I was being clever upgrading. I've bought the 10mm...

New AG tower build

Many thanks to all who have previously given their advice. I've been quiet for the last few weeks collecting gear and contemplating. This is a great forum for advice. After the build the real questions will start!. After my fridge aversion, I managed to get a vintage 1991 UK built Candy, still respe...

Re: Straight to Bottle, no Keg or Cask

Hi Great thread it has saved me posting the exact same question for exactly the same reason: Grahams book!. I am still building my rig, so have yet to start my first AG. But my intention is to bottle. I am interested in conditioning in a seperate vessel, and have several wine FV's. This would free u...

Re: Wine FV as conditioning vessels?

Many thanks to all. Ok my intension is to mature the prior to bottling and I had assumed (wrongly it seems!) that it needs to be done under pressure to aid the conditioning .

Re: Wine FV as conditioning vessels?

Hmmm nice!

Many thanks for the advice, looks like I'll be adding 2 casks to the build.
Conditioning I guess would be at least 2 weeks before bottling? Could be more like 4.

I haven't got round to those questions yet :D !
