Re: Co2 refill adapter

Someone at my homebrew club is playing around with various ideas for avoiding lugging co2 cylinders around and shared this idea (note that I can't vouch for this as I've not tried it myself, but it sounded like an option for you to try): If you get a carbonator cap you can pressurise a PET fizzy dr...

Re: Co2 refill adapter

Damn. Great idea but ridiculous price for a small connector! They can be got much cheaper e.g. https://www.kegland.com.au/sodastream-cylinder-filling-adapter-filling-station-with-bleed-valve.html , I know it's in Australia but it has a quite useful video and they do have resellers here, although I ...

You could just make a smaller coil chiller, although they are available off the shelf too.

Re: Carbonation Pressure/Temperature Chart

The Buffalo leak detector stuff is really good. Also I think a lot of leaks are caused by people putting shear pressure on their JG fitted lines, the system can test fine but then the person shoves everything in tight and shuts the door of the fridge, putting sideways pressure on the joints and caus...

Brew UK also sell a pre prepared pack of this, although others such as Malt Miller and Get Er Brewed will also make it up to your specs.

Re: Grade A corni kegs, 45 each.

As if by magic.... The Malt Miller is now selling second hand versions for £60 with the same dimensions as the new ones: https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/product/grade-a-used-keg-tall/ 65 in stock at this moment but I bet they don't last too long when people realise that they can fit 3 rather than 4 ...

Re: Grade A corni kegs, 45 each.

Those look very decent for the price. I got 6 from here that were not refurbished so did require quite a lot of cleaning and some TLC but they do work fine. These were the taller ones as just measured one there. I am in the process of slowly phasing them out of the new AEB ones as I found with my 9...

Re: Force Carbination

If you use high pressure for a number of hours to speed things up the temperature will make a big difference to how fast it gets to the volumes of CO2 that you require, I don't think those advocating this method have mentioned what temperature they use, although Ashley has said to check it through t...

Re: Recreating Boddingtons

I only started drinking in the mid 90s so my recollection of good boddingtons was never of the actual drink, as that was rubbish, only of Melanie Sykes :) But the history of it when it was supposedly good and fairly unique is very interesting imo. My favourite cask beers now tend to be pale, with a...

Re: Recreating Boddingtons

If that's an ex pat with a penchant for historical beers and mild, would you have access to other brewing records of the beer or any of the original brewers themselves? Yes and yes, I do have access to more records. In 1939 the hops were Oregon, Styrian and English. In 1970, all English. Any chance...

Pretty sure this is what a bunch of Aussies have used to make their own beer engines adding a silicon tube for a "spout" and various things to emulate a sparkler too.

Re: Grade A corni kegs, 45 each.

There was a discussion on a NE Facebook group about the Homebrew Company kegs, the refurbished ones are the stumpy ones but the non-refurbished are the taller and thinner type, it can make a lot of difference to how many kegs a fridge will fit without hacking away the insides but you are probably lo...

Re: Any good low ABV recipes out there?

Hi Kingfisher/Dave There's a bunch of low-er ABV recipes available there (link) ... only a couple are down around the 3-ish% ABV, but there are some ideas you can work with there ... and I have brewed the Rye Wit one from there and would recommend it  Cheers, PhilB Thanks Phil :) The rye whea...

Re: Beer engines; keeping it fresh

Short lines and leaving the pump in the fully pulled position after dispensing is the least faff and saves the most beer. I always pull through a little next time so am usually drinking beer only from the cask. I thought there was always beer in the cylinder of an Angram, no matter where the handle...
