I think for my first brew I'll just let the liquor stand overnight before use and not bother adding anything. Will probably note down the mash Ph as that's easy to do. Taking copious notes all the way of course.... I can then think about water treatment for future brews depending upon the taste and ...

worth a punt, my last two have been Brupaks with good results.

I had to bin a Santas Warmer a couple of yrs ago. Didn't ferment out properly and
tasted awful.

Only ever do 3kg kits, it was a Brupaks Scammonden Dark.

I have deferred the start of my turbo cider until I get some sugar tomorrow.

Currently enjoying my latest homebrew bitter, very good for an extract kit!

The turbo cider recipe (or one variant thereof) had some topping up going on
anyway so if I'm careful with sterilization then I reckon I'll be OK.

Right, now got some champagne yeast and an airlock for my demijohn.

Haven't got any cane sugar though so I'll kick the thing off with just the
juice tonight and add some top up juice + sugar after the first 48 hrs
of fermentation. OK plan or fatally flawed ?

I'm going to remortgage and bung the lot on 2007 apple concentrate futures.

Wasn't planning on any boiling was just going to add the sugar to the juice.

Cider yeast or champagne yeast - waddya reckon ? The HB shoppe sells both...

Cheers! I might bung the cartons in the airing cupboard tonight to give them a day to warm up to yeast-friendly temp. I've got a load of demijohns up in the loft so this would seem a good easy project to put them to use :D Will pop to the local HB shop en route to tomorrow lunchtime's pub visit but ...

Do you use bog standard cane sugar added directly to the apple juice ?

I fancy giving a gallon of that a go.

Do you ferment in a demijohn then syphon off to a storage demijohn after fermentation ?
