It's never leaked. I don't have the same boiler though it is curved. Here is the thread of me tighting up the KM8 locknut. viewtopic.php?t=73256 the photo doesn't realy show the round section at the bottom.

Re: converting a 50L pot into a electric boiler
I tried budget kettles and couldn't get them to seal in my metal boiler. However with the Haden type elements I used a KM8 locknut which I was able to get much tighter than the plastic one.

Re: converting a 50L pot into a electric boiler
Hmm it's an option. Going for propane would mean being weather dependent outside so with electrics I have some flexibility of being inside and having the element in the boiler would be neater. The hole shouldn't be a problem. It's the sparky bit's I'm not so sure on. If you go for one or two of the...

Re: Easier bottling
Those who are using several bottling wands at the same time, do you fill all the bottles at the same time (eg with the wands held in a block of wood or something) and hope they all have the same flow rate, or are they separate? If the latter and you're bottling by yourself, do you just use each one...

Re: Easier bottling
I find it a lot easier with 2 or 3 people. I've also considered 2 taps on an fv 2 wands away we go That's exactally what I've done. I've got 2 wands so fill 2 bottles at a time. I also invite a couple of friends, apply them with beer and they help bottle, makes a fun evening, well as fun as it can ...

Grain Storage
I was thinking of getting a blue barrel to store 25kg of grain in. Does anyone know what size barrel I need. Will it all fit into a 40l barrel? There a lot of used ones on eBay that were mango chutney barrels. If I get one if there will all my beer taste of mango or can the taste of mango be cleaned...

Hi, I'm sure i'm not the 1st do to this... The elements have burnt out in my boiler, after struggling to try to remove the KM4 nuts from them, it was time to make a custom tool! Rehter please with it so i've put in in a safe place in case for next time! http://www.jonothompson.com/photos/IMG_2015092...

Re: broken urn
If its a burco type urn, I replaced my plastic burco tape with a brass tap connector and a short length of copper tube and a ball valve, made it much easer to use. the 15mm copper is easy for me to put hoses onto for transfuring liquids around

Re: New mash tun advice
I have the 48L igloo coolbox converted into my mashtun there is plenty of great guides on how to convert. Its lasted well for me and holds temp fine on a 30L brew.

Re: New Brewery
The floor drain is amazing before the last photo was taken I had overfilled a bucket of hot water from the chiller! Very easy to clean up unlike the shed was when I overfilled the HLT!
