I'm looking to make a big batch and then fetch and thaw when necessary. Don't want to buy a box of mass produced bunk at the big box store. I know there are ...

Re: Pliny The Elder clone
Not sure if he'll ship to the UK, but this guy sells a "Pliny Pack" packaged by addition time. A US forum (homebrewtalk) has good things to say about it.

Re: Beer and Food (instead of wine)
Garrett Oliver, head brewer of Brooklyn brewing, has written an book about food and beer pairing. He also give talks on the subject (not that that helps here) regarding the vast amounts of options available with beer that you can't get with wine.

Re: Anyone tried a cider kit?
First cider I ever made was from a French kit consisting of dry fruit that I rehydrated. Unlike the national team, this was fabulous.
They discontinued it over here so I've never had it again.

Re: Bishops finger and Spitfire
Malt syrup added by the brewer for homebrew purposes? Maybe he has greater efficiencies or a unique process that as a homebrewer we could only replicate by adding malt.

Re: Something malty but opportunistic.
If I may chime in on behalf of Centennial. It is a wonderful hop and goes quite well with a malt backbone.
Use it late for a fantastic aroma. Much better than Cascade in my opinion.

Re: Batch Sparging as wot it is done
The only comments I have are when you say "dribble 7 to 8L water over the grains". Just dump, stir, wait and drain. Don't dribble unless you're drinking while sparging.

Re: Stir Plate
Steve,
Here's a good link: http://www.donosborn.com/homebrew/stir_plate.htm
My stir plate is just the guts, no container at all except for a plastic tub to hold everything. Works great!

Re: No Space for a Bench?
Make sure you treat the top of the bench with something. Looks like pressboard or mdf which will bulge if liquid is left on it.
