Beer Fridge

I’ve recently added a second cornie to my beer fridge. It’s a single height (under counter size) larder fridge which now contains 2 standard cornies and one small 1.5Kg co2 bottle. Since adding the second keg, however, the fridge struggles to get below 11 degrees and the compressor seems to be runni...

Re: Vermont pale ale

Hi guys - thought I'd share this recipe from my commercial nanobrewery. It's a modern "juicy" (haha) pale ale, and it took first prize at Grimsby CAMRA festival last year. I'm packing in the commercial brewing because it's too much like hard work... OG: 1.042 FG: 1.011 Grist: 95% low colour pale al...

Re: marks 2 keg washer

That’s a good idea. Beer line isn’t particularly dear.

Re: marks 2 keg washer

I’ve used mine and I do like it. It certainly makes cleaning cornies easier although my fermentation buckets are too big to fit. When I use it to clean my 3/16 tubing I’m a bit worried it might be straining the pump so I only do that briefly. Works well on 3/8 tubing though. Sent from my iPad using ...

Re: VWP instead of oxyclean

I wash my fermenters with washing up liquid, rinse well and then Starsan. Never had a problem with head retention.

I only use PBW for cleaning cornies, pipes and taps.

Re: VWP instead of oxyclean

I’ve just ordered a Mark II keg washer (after seeing another post on here). I appreciate that it is another outlay but not only will it will make cleaning much easier but will use only a fraction of the amount of PBW.

Worth considering.

Re: Beer tap connector

If I had planned a bit better I would have installed the tap in the centre of the door so that when there are two kegs inside the fridge the tap (on the fridge door) sat between them. Unfortunately as I only originally intended using one keg at a time I offset the tap to one side. Now when I try to ...

Re: marks 2 keg washer

Thanks Guys, I hadn’t seen one of these before and hate cleaning kegs and tubing so I’ve just ordered one from Niels. [emoji482][emoji3]

Beer tap connector

In order to fit 2 cornies in my beer fridge I need to change the tailpiece on the back of the tap shank to a 90 degree one. They seem to only be available from USA or China which means a long wait. Don’t suppose anyone has found anything similar in the UK. I’ve tried all the obvious places like Keg ...

Re: BM20 Table/Stand Suggestions

I use an aluminium “step up”. Very strong, folds away for storage and handy for other uses such as decorating. You can buy a 600mm long one for about twenty quid from somewhere like Screwfix.

Re: do campden tablets go off?

All my acids, salts and chemicals are miles past their sell by date. Some come in such large quantities compared to the tiny doses I use that I would be throwing away almost full containers if I stuck to use-by dates. Never noticed a problem though. Either I’ve got crap taste buds or I’m just lucky....

Re: Blending Different Brews

A little bit later. Around 1978. The barman would be chatting and forget to stop pouring so I often ended up with a full pint of bitter AND a bottle of light ale for the price of a pint [emoji6]

Blending Different Brews

Yes, handy if you over bitter a brew and can tone it down with something less bitter. I remember my standard pub tipple when I was a teenager was a pint of light and bitter [emoji3]
