I actually have some of those somewhere, I'll try and dig them out. I remember them being quite small though.

Re: Anyone do multiple dry hops?

There are a couple of recipes I use that have multiple dry hop additions. I use pellets and throw them in loose. One recipe I have gets a dry hop addition as the ferment is complete...hold for 5 days and then cool to 4 deg C, then add the next dry hop and leave for another 5 days. You can rouse the...

Anyone do multiple dry hops?

I got in contact with a brewer after a "meet the brewer" session and was discussing one of their core beers (Cannonball at the Magic Rock brewery). They do three separate dry hops. When I asked further they have some recirculation system for maximum exposure to the hops... not particularly practical...

Re: New pellet hop filter review - Lautehex

I didn't really think of that, a Lautehex might not be able to cope being connected to a pump? I have a plate chiller, but surely a lot of people do?

Re: New pellet hop filter review - Lautehex

Not really. If you've got a 70 litre pot then what's a couple of litres to you? Think of the wastage! If I'm doing a double batch and to get 22L in 2 fermenters then I'm on the limit of the pot for some beers. It feels like a step backwards to go back to tipping the pot. Hop utilisation will surely...

Re: New pellet hop filter review - Lautehex

I BIAB and use a hop sock. I've had a couple of stray bits of grain/hop get in my mag pump in the past and want to add a filter. If I can hop directly (mostly pellets but also whole sometimes) into the vessel (70L pot) then that's even better. I've currently got a pick up tube and I love being able ...

Re: Sparkies: Electrical wiring conundrum

I built a PID controller powering a 3Kw element after lots of reading and re-doing and I thought it was safe... then part of the mains cable that was inside the enclosure went up after about 15 brews taking half the (very untidy) wiring with it. I've since re-did it with 2.5mm wire and correct crimp...

Re: mash tun insulation

Lots of inventive people on here! I've used 19mm armaflex and aluminium tape to do the walls of my pot. Have enough left to cover the lid too. Aluminium tape is a bit of a pain to work with and I noticed it pulls away some of the insulation if you try and remove it. I've taped the seams so hoping I ...

Re: Overnight Mashing

I've almost exclusively done overnight mashes for my last 10 or so brews. Haven't noticed a drop in FG and beers still seem good. It certainly saves time on the actual brew day!

Re: Best solution for hop pellets

I use one of these and whirlpooling: https://store.brewpi.com/mashing/brewpi-matmill-lauterhexe-kit-bsp Works really well and I think i read somewhere that Rob was thinking of stocking them. Yes, Rob has those on their way. I have a pickup tube currently in my BIAB pot but I need some kind of filte...

Re: mash tun insulation

I have the foil bubble wrap just now (its a new kit I bought recently). but my last experiment showed a drop of over 1 degree in 90minutes. With the armaflex, I lost 0.3 degrees over 90minutes!!!!! Thanks for the good ideas there Lord, I'll mull over the different possibilities! Just looking at Arm...

Re: Stainless Elements

Yea good tips on leaving room for the addition of a filter. I was looking at the braided filter on Angel Homebrew too. So many options! The Malt Miller was talking about getting these in soon. He claims that they filter pellets well, which is the holy grail as everything else I've tried has blocked...

Re: PT100 sensor issues

Update on this: I ordered replacement probe and cable from Auber which arrived today (great service, and no customs charge). Unfortunately this didn't fix the issue - which serves me right I suppose for ordering without really getting to the bottom of it. Now I guess the issue is somewhere in the P...
