Recipe suggestions sought.
Hints of chocolate and the ability to taste the malts rather than all hops is a great positive for me. I'll be interested to see how it develops over the weeks.

Re: Recipe suggestions sought.
I'll let you know in 1 week . Only been in the bottle a week.
I'll be drinking a smoked beer, a Timothy Taylor Landlord clone, and the Braumeister wheat recipe until then.

I have EKG in stock too, but think I will go with your recipe today. Yours have turned out well in the past.

Safale SO-4
I like it. It's my regular yeast. The only recipe where I have gained a bread taste is in a smoked beer. Other than that, I find it quite clean/lacking flavour, which allows the malt and hop flavours to shine through, which is what I want.

BM and efficiency
...........Maybe it is true, but take the whole 80+ on a BM with a pinch of salt. All I can say is that I've witnessed an efficiency of 90%+ on Normski's BM with my own eyes. It's all in how thoroughly you sparge. agree with Jim. have seen it with my own eyes too on Normskis brew days. Sorry, my wo...

Re: BM and efficiency
He does anything you want . I just put that I have a Braumeister and can I have a 1.3 crush.
Other than that, I always fill to 23l and sparge with 6.
I've never failed to hit target on a recipe set at 75%. Well, barring Speidels Wheat Beer recipe, but that's another story.

Does the Malt Miller know you have a BM? I tell him and he crushes at 1.3mm, and I gain 75% efficiency. The crush makes a fair difference to the outcome. I assume his regular crush is not 1.3.

TT Landlord Clone v7!
Kind of I bottled it yesterday, and had a very small taster from the FV. Seems like an excellent base so far, so look forward to trying it in another 2-3 weeks.
No idea on whether it is a good clone, as I've not had a pint of it for years.

Without a doubt, wash them.
One brand I bought were clean. Another more expensive brand I bought looked clean, but left dirty marks on my hands when wet.

I heard they were planning to update. Maybe a "can't see the wood for the trees type issue" when the creator was looking at a document like that.

Re: Sterilising bottles
Is that because of head retention issues if not rinsed properly, or something else?Aleman wrote:I wouldn't allow washing up liquid to contact any part of my brewing setup.
I rinse bottles three times, and I'm yet to have any issues or off flavours.
Do the same with my FV's. Braumeister gets Halapur.

Sterilising bottles
I just wash each bottle after use with warm soapy water, rinse, then spray with starsan. Lid on and in a box ready for bottling day.
Utter pain to do all bottles at once.
Even if you don't have flip top lids, you can get some bottle covers to protect until bottling day.

Misting up. It's a visual issue only. Pretty minor, but worth fixing.
