Re: Hook and Norton - Haymaker
So you're a pro brewer now Seymour? Yes sir, and loving every minute of it! And, as you can imagine, is the main reason I have so much less time on the forums. I was so astonished by the claim Hook Norton (not Hook and Norton, it's named after its location in the village/civil parish of the same na...

Re: INTRODUCING: Seymour Citra Dark
It's awesome I'm drinking some of it at the moment! It was served too cold at the competition though, foob4r can tell you more as he was there. Cracking beer Seymour even my mum is drinking it as the moment and she doesn't really drink and certainly not beer. So glad to hear you're enjoying it. Che...

Re: Hook and Norton - Haymaker
Where's this from Seymour? I would be astonished if they used acidulated malt, most established UK brewers are much more likely to have a water treatment regime that didn't involve that. Acis is cheap compared to malt. The 4th and 5th editions of Roger Protz's Real Ale Almanac and Les Howarth's The...

Re: What is your favourite English hop variety?
We dry-hopped a special-release cask of The Civil Life ESB with loads of Pilgrim hops, and I was very pleasantly surprised: reminiscent of orange marmalade, ripe apricots, berry fruit, very very juicy. Still recognizably English in character, but BIG like New World hops. I highly recommend Pilgrim f...

Re: Deebee's Imperial IPA is the bomb, no joke.
That is one hell of a mouth watering review! I feel like cracking open a fruit bomb IPA and it's only 10.46am. Ha, yeah! It's only 6:49 am here, and I'd drink another if I could! :) I plan to do another of these Seymour. Shall i bung a couple your way? You should try drinking this one a little youn...

Sorry for the delay. I agree, yes. This is a very adaptable recipe, a good starting point for pretty much any hop trial.Goulders wrote:You can use any hop you like. It would no doubt taste great with cascaderobbarwell wrote:Due to the lack of Citra available..could this be brewed with Cascade

Re: Styrian Cascade
Sounds fantastic, I'm sure I would prefer it to US version, which has become one-dimensional and samey.Hanglow wrote:Yeah I've used some from them, I thought it as in between uk cascade and US cascade in terms of potency of flavour. It's very nice.

Aha, I spy a male hop! Wild English variant, I presume? Are you going to attempt cross-pollinating with your brewing varieties?barneey wrote:

Re: Hop Growing 2016
Exactly. I use store-bought organic tomato fertilizer with great results. The middle number "P" should be higher than the other two in order to promote flowering.
