Re: I keep getting a weird urge to do a kit.
I am doing kits at the moment, because of time and children. Did a wheat beer and added 2kg of summer fruits. Quite tart, but is nice. Just done a Geordie Lager (on sale in Wilkos) but added the cml Kolsch Yeast and 60g Saaz hop tea. Both will be summer drinks for friends etc when we have a party. S...

Re: Brewing 45l in Grainfather
Thanks guys. So, with regards to efficiency any tips? Stir regularly during the mash? Sparge well?
Do I need to do anything regarding the hop profile? Is it fine to just double the hops from my 23l recipe?
Thanks

Brewing 45l in Grainfather
Hi all, Time is valuable to me (as to all) as we have two children under 3, one is only 9 weeks. I haven't managed a brew day in three months and am gagging to go back to it, currently making do with kits that are heavily tweaked. Is it possible to use the max grain capacity of the gf (9 kg?) over 2...

Re: Portable Corny Options
I assume the tap is at the bottom? I have never needed to use gas. They are like mini pressure barrels. I just vent the lid and pour away.

Re: Portable Corny Options
Hi Wanus. With those type of 5l kegs I have always just transferred after fermentation and added a bit of sugar (20 grams) to the keg before adding the beer.

Re: Pump use on boil.
I would imagine it is not a major issue as they suggest running boiling wort through the cfc in order to make it sterile, plus you are then pumping pretty much boiling wort through it to get it to the FV.

Re: CO2 in London
To be honest I have stopped using gas and only bottle. I have four corny kegs that haven't been used for two years.
They were really good though, I would recommend them.

Re: Yet Another Best Ever........
WA, did another TC recently. My local Sainsbury's is selling some cheap juice, only thing is it says no added sugar, or reduced sugar. These still ok to use? Thanks Mann, I`ve never used the reduced sugar juices. What was your SG? WA Sorry, should clarify, not used them yet. Not even purchased them...

I love the Greg Hughes one. A lot of people said to me that Cascade was very one dimensional, but I love it.

Re: Out of date kits
To be honest I can't remember. I did one three years ago. For a party and it all got drunk. Lots of roast malt flavour and maybe coffee?

Out of date kits
Just found two out of date kits in the Garage. They have remained relatively dry and seem free from rust etc. They are the Milestone Black Pearl Irish Stout kit (https://www.the-home-brew-shop.co.uk/acatalog/Milestone_Black_Pearl_Beer_Kit.html). They went out of date in November 2014. Would they sti...
