Re: Re-using yeast: floculation issue

The problem is probably related to your brewing process. There should be no visible yeast in the bottle. In fact you should be able to pour the complete contents into a glass and have a star bright drink. It will take a bit longer to brew this way and most people cannot be bothered. Interested ?

Re: Cheap grain

I would not have posted that link if I had thought it was not true. Everybody has to pay transport cost in one way or another. Be it fuel in your car plus the time involved. Most people never count the cost of their time!!! Or by paying a courier to bring it to your door. Less than £7 to transport 2...

Re: Shepherd Neame Kentish Strong Ale

It's all in the yeast. Brew lab have it. I sent it to them a few years ago. I have a recipe for their Spitfire and if you brewed that to the required gravity for "Kentish Strong Ale" am certain that it would be very similar. The yeast sample that I sent to BrewLab came from a 1977 bottle of Silver J...

Re: Where is the thin bleach? and what can I use instead?

The best and cheapest cleaner/sanitiser is available at any swimming pool supplier. It's 66% sodium hypochlorite and one teaspoon in 23 litres does the job.

Re: No Chill

A very simple question. What books have you got,or read, on home brewing ? Got no books and only read on forums and watched on youtube The solution to your problem is this. Buy a decent book on home brewing. I suggest the last book by the late Graham Wheeler. Read it cover to cover several times an...

BM mash time

I've been brewing with a BM for more than ten years. I keep a log of every brew. For normal beer I mash at 66°C for ninety minutes. I check the gravity at the end of the mash, after the sparge and after the boil and adjust the volume.Yesterday I decided to check the gravity forty minutes into the mas...

Re: What size freezer for 4 kegs

Stand four cornies on the floor arrange them in a square and measure the footprint. Then arrange them staggered in an oblong form and measure that footprint. Then visit several white goods shop and see which freezers will accommodate them. I doubt that you will find one 80 cm wide that will hold mor...

I wonder how many homebrewers taste a yeast starter before adding it to the wort ?
