Looks like a great approach.
Has anyone tried this technique with the Fullers ESB (WLP002 etc.) strain?

Where is the best place to purchase replacement poppet valves? Is it still can direct?

Re: WYEAST Activator
Cheers for the reply.
I might even split it in half or 4 x 30 ml as I have sterilised micro vials and store 3 of them and step up the remaining 30 ml first into 200 ml then to 2000 ml for a 1.040 OG beer.

WYEAST Activator
HI All
I'm new to the smack pack as only ever used WLP yeast.
I take it because the manufacture date of my delivered today smack pack is 5th August that I am right to assume that this 100 billion Yeast Cells pack is actually already 3 months old nearly and is thus actually 48 billion cells???

Re: Adding olive oil to your yeast starter!?
This is not as crazy as you may think and has been well documented and referenced in the scientific literature. The work was carried out by Grady Hull (New Belgium Brewing Company USA) for the qualification of Postgraduate Diploma/MSc in Brewing and Distilling. Here is a link if you want to read and...

Micro guys - would you replace these fermentors?
Hi All I've recently seen a drop in quality of my home brewed beers and I'm trying to eliminate causes of possible infection. I've recently also switched from using bleach extensively as a sanitiser to Starsan (cleaning first with oxy cleaner like I know a fair few of you do). I've noticed that most...

Re: What temperature do you dry hop at?
I have successfully dry hopped after the initial vigorous primary fermentation (so 24 - 48 hours after pinching) and can report great hop aroma. I leave the hops in there for the rest of primary (1 week with Fullers yeast) before crash cooling and moving to cask with aux finings etc.

Re: Late Hopping Experiment (hot)
Nice experiment =D> :D As a flavour chemist your findings are not surprising. Some of the tasting panel maybe super tasters where bitterness or sweetness etc. is concerned. Others may be anosmic (smell or taste blind) to certain componets but not others! As an example the flavour chemical gamma-Deca...
